....a takeover when you sign Andy Gray. I mean, seriously? Two goals against Farsley is impressive enough for a contract? Let's put this into perspective, Billy Bunter scores in second half with a bunch of youngsters supplying him. Oh I ****ing give up, what are we doing signing Gray? Take his ****ing wages and add it to Snods or Mac's contract and make the money count!!

Snods will clearly be sold to Norwich, and expect Ross to go as well. Big takeover money coming in? No chance, we are still operating at the bottom end of the transfer market which says it all really.

Maybe Warnock has more of an idea than you? Warnock will have an idea of what we need and if he's good enough.

I must admit I am far from happy about the signing myself, doesn't smell like a signing when a takeover is around the corner unless the new owners have exhausted their funds matching Bates extortionate asking price.

I'll begin to worry when the window is closed and if we haven't signed any players that will put fear into the other teams. But as I said, Warnock knows what hes doing.

For ****'s sake half the squad from last season are either already gone or on the transfer list. Every signing can't be a marquee signing. Did you maybe think that we are in fact waiting for the takeover confirmation before making the important big money signings?

No good losing your temper mate with everyone who expresses a concern over some of the quality. Look at it another way, if we are going to get a BIG MONEY striker in when the takeover is complete then why sign Gray <ok>

Will Nicky Maynard be a big name signing?

Because we need back-up. We need a squad, not just a starting 11. I'm not losing my temper I just get a bit frustrated when people start assuming every signing we make is going to be first choice and replace a starter from last season.

I've seen rumours we've bid for him, not sure how reliable those rumours are though.

We have our marquee goalkeeper signings - Kenny and Ashdown.

We have our marquee defensive signings - Pearce, Lees signed new contract, Drury and possibly Crainie to come

We have our marquee midfield signings - Austin, Green, White signed new contract, Rogers back from injury, Snodgrass still here

We already have our marquee strikers - Luke Varney and more back up in Gray who incidentally was excellent last year for Barnsley!

In comparison to this time last season, this is unbelievable riches, irrespective whether there is a takeover or not.

This is showing some serious intent, and anyone who can't see that is someone who knows FA about football.

Add to this group one or two more, then a couple of shrewd loan signings and we are a force to be reckoned with.

I think Andy Gray is a good signing for back up, just my opinion like.

I admire your optimism, I have a little myself but at the moment I don't see the squad we have, even with a few of the additions mentioned challenging. As much as you get frustrated with people questioning the signings a few of us are frustrated at the quality we are managing to get in at the moment. What if the T/O happens and the biggest signings are Pearce, Kenny, Varney and Austin - Decent but not promotion winning....

There you go again, if members don't agree with you they know **** all, you just can't help yourself can you...

    Andy Gray

34 Years Old with lots of experience in this league. Lets give him a chance, remember he is a Leeds lad who has come home to prove a point.
Could be a great impact sub next season & it takes bottle to turn down a contract to go on trial with Leeds.

    Jamie Ashdown

Excellent second keeper, Portsmouth bargain again but should give Paddy some cover when the pies start to take their strain.

    Luke Varney

For me the questionable signing of the 4 as he will be on a higher wage, I expect to see him working hard to prove his worth.

    Rodolph Austin

I hope he can cut it and lasts more than 15 minutes on his debut. I love a bit of bite in a player but this lad has more bite than Dracula.

Warnock should have retained more players rather than transfer listing them like a madman.

We're basically paying out contracts of average players (losing money), paying wages of average players who are currently still here (losing money) and signing average players to replace them (losing money).

Prefer us to be more prudent and work better with what we've got, complementing that with players like Pearce and Austin rather than tearing up the foundations completely and rebuilding them with shakier new ones which haven't had time to bed in yet.

Anyway, I don't think it'll do us much harm in the long run - it's just Warnock for you. His strategy of drawing up a hit-list of 30 players and just hoping to indiscriminately 'get them over the line' - if his private actions reflect his public words - smacks of a desperation tailored to the fact Bates was his boss at the time the window opened. Hopefully the new owners will advise him to be more structured and sensible.

Certainly these signings don't rule out the takeover in any way or belittle it.

<ok> Spot on glad someone else can see it and at the moment with things as they stand we shall finish in an average position.

I'm more on about players who were victims of the retained list than the dealings as a whole, but we do still need three promotion-quality players adding if this squad's gonna have a crack at the playoffs.

Whether you that task as A) a continuation of the good work done so far (Pearce, Kenny, Austin, Drury), or B) as something that needs stepping up because we've not, overall, done well enough (Varney, Green, Gray)... that's another question altogether.

Can't be arsed to fall into either camp yet, although my instincts are that this level will continue to be the one we work at, and there may be a fair bit of disunity (not malevolent, but still avoidable) in the squad come the start of the season.

Coin saying tonight that the crucial signings are yet to come. Apparently we've had a bid of £1m rejected for Nicky Maynard, which hopefully shows the kind of signing we'll be looking to make from here on out.

Four if Snodgrass does leave and I believe the Varney - Green level is what we shall see more of. I hope I am wrong and that we do see a quality WOW player join that leaves everyone of us in agreement that it is the type of quality we need for promotion.
