    Hi All,

I was absolutely horrified to hear of Gary Speed's apparent suicide.
Coming after that German Ref's intended suicide it really brought it home to me just what pressure these people are under.

Closer to home, Pulis is under the cosh and what HE (and all other sports related people) do not need is soebody like me, behind a keyboard going far beyond normal constructive criticism, to something more scathing and cynical, all for a cheap laugh.

I have dropped by previous stupid user name and even more cretinous 'signature' and pic. It really is time that I grew up on here and from now on there will be NO cheap shots, No cheap laughs, condtructive criticism of course, attempts at humour - unfortunately for you lot yup.

BUT none of my usual nonsense at the expense of someon who cannot respond to what I have been posting, I feel thoroughly ashamed of myself.

    RIP Gary Speed

    Nick

Let's not forget Peter Roebuck, a cricket writer, who committed suicide in the past couple of weeks as well.

RIP Gary Speed. A legend on the field and a great man off it.

Indeed Sgt - Roebuck REALLY was a tortured soul, stood up to Botham and not many had the balls to do that.

Bloody hell Sgt - it's ONLY a game NOT life and death sadly

Appreciated Steve, just do NOT feel too thrilled with myself tonight.
In fact feel near to tears, you know Sgt when Collymore said all of those years ago that he was 'depressed' 99% of people, including ME said 'how can you be depressed £45K per week and all the trimmings'

Know we know, that is a brilliant article - thank yo

You're not the only one Nick. I must admit I had a few tears in my eyes during the minutes applause for Gary Speed.

    Thank goodness for not 606!!
Silly really but I don't feel so alone and weepy knowing that other folk are feeling the same.

Despite all the pressure on Managers and Players, thank God for sport, it can bind the world together in both grief AND joy.

We are at Everton next Sunday where Gary Speed is worshipped, as he was everywhere he went, so I hope the Stokies there have a favourable chant or 2 for Speed. He was a marvellous player and it was always nice to see him play and always came across as a very decent person, and I sincerely hope the Stokies join the Evertonians at Goodison next week in appreciating his talents.

Sorry nick & other stokies, but i cannot feel anything for a respected footballer (or polotician or actor/actress, or any famous celebrity), that has absolutely nothing to do with my close & immediate family, like i said on the other thread, what the **** has it got to do with me, nothing!

Well I'm sorry Huth, but that is heartless. Just because someone isn't part of your family doesn't mean you can't feel empathy for them.

    Mighty Huth,
That's your choice and your oppinion and that's fair enough. Like I said IF it's nothing to do with you mate.. not your friend or a family member.. Just don't comment might have been the best option.<ok> If you are going to the Everton game next Sunday.

Does that mean you will/would not observe a min's silence which may well be arranged? I HOPE for the sake of Stoke City that you would Huthy!

No offence intended by the way, just got me wondering is all. <ok>

Huthy a bit callous that mate to be honest. The guy has left behind two kids four weeks before Christmas and a grieving wife that has now got to lift those kids. I know it's nothing to do with us but the thought that those kids will always grow up thinking that a few weeks before Christmas their Father hanged himself will probably leave them mentally scarred. I lost my Father last year just before Christmas and I know I was in pieces but my old man was 82 and had a good innings. I suppose this is 2011 though and the lack of care for fellow humans something that younger people don't seem to have these days!

Why do you have to comment if your opinions are so heartless?. You are a disgrace and how you havent been banned off this forum amazes me. The mods on here, whoever they are should be ashamed of themselves for letting an idiot like you keep posting on here.

You have been suspended many times and still come out with ridiculous and hurtful statements. You need to grow up!!.

  20. Huthy, what are you on? As Potts has suggested, it would be better you do not comment if those are your views. Quite heartless IMHO!

Gary Speed as a current International Manager was obviously close to many professional players. He would have been mentoring players, giving fringe players encouragement for the future. He was a tremendous player and I remember him for his time at Leeds, Everton, Bolton and at Sheff Utd. It also looked as if he was going to do well as as manager of Wales.

As I said in another post thoughts are with his family.

Let us hope Gary Speed is remembered by all at Goodison Park on Saturday.
