Sorry lol, was meant to send it in reply to the guy who said: Its worse than 606 lol forgot to reply with a quote
I'm well up for a bit of banter, in fact I think it's intrinsic to football supporting - it's what the chants and songs are about. Also some WUM articles on 606 were brilliant and hilarious, but I think what the not606 mods are trying to do is strike a balance between what is, imo heavy handed and inconsistent moderation on BBC 606 and a complete free for all, which inevitably ends up reading like a bunch of 10 year olds in the school playground throwing meaningless insults around. If we want this forum to work, then I think the mods advice should be heeded. We need a degree of self regulation, otherwise you end up with an either or situation: A forum that is simply full of insults or one that is overly moderated.
Thak you, I wish you had come on hours ago because thats all I'm trying to do, make this forum the best I can for us all and the middle ground will get us there.
Just a thought but for those who want a good old rant with no holes barred, why not try the after hours forum.
I think most not606 users appreciate the fact that we have a forum which we can use more freely than BBC 606 and for it to work properly we need to self regulate. I think the options to ignore members and toggle the swearing filter is a brilliant idea and I would hope that most users will avoid the inane route of meaningless insults and pointless wum articles- but whilst this migratory period from the BBC site is happening, I think a lot of people will be 'testing the waters' to see what they can and can't get away with. Also, I think we have to bear in mind that there's a whole bunch of repressed BBC 606 users who, for years, have had their comments suppressed and their desire to swear clipped by the mods over at Aunty ( I include myself in that) and so will naturally use not606 (initially anyway) as a platform to vent all those pent up frustrations
