I need to rant. I regularly check this forum as it seems to be by a clear mile the best source of City news going. There also seems to be a lot of sensible posters, so while I maybe breaking 'forum rules' by discussing a lot of topics in one thread, I hope you can forgive me :emoticon-0111-blush

Right, first point. Tom Cairney is by far our best player! Why on earth are BOTH Evans and McKenna getting picked ahead of him?! Okay, maybe TC isn't great defensively, so why not just play one of PM or CE? Personally I'd still play neither as I don't think we need a defensive mid, our defence is good enough to handle most opposition. TC was brilliant in the Prem and very good in pre-season. Yes it's a faster game in the Championship, but he coped when he played earlier this season just fine (when he was played in the centre).

Point 2. We lost today because we cannot attack (mainly because of playing 2 DMs), but when we do, the strike force isn't good enough. I'm sorry, but it did make me laugh when the some of the crowd got excited at 5 minutes injury time, WE HAVEN'T SCORED IN MORE THAN 4 AND A HALF HOURS OF FOOTBALL! I also believe Fryatt is not the man we need him to be. Now, he did start to win me over when he had a good run of games recently, but I realised the good run was just that, and it was too good to be true. Who would I want to sign therefore, I'm not sure. Billy Sharp is proven so I'd be happy with him. Personally I like Darius Henderson. Whoever we do sign though, I want to see defending from the front! Like Derby did today (another reason why they won the game).

Point 3. I wish Barmby was on the bench today. Just the kind of player we needed to come on. Though Garcia should definately have!

Point 4. Why is Pusic always 2 weeks away from been fit?

Point 5. Jamie Devitt. Great player. Is he back? Does Barmby rate him?

Point 6. Why did Dawson try to hit the ball under/through the wall with his free kick today when we know how good he is at placing them in the top corner?!!!!

Point 7. Will anybody go to the Ipswich game at £15 a ticket! Do we even want to stay in the cup?

Point 8. There is no point 8.

I must admit I feel better now. Though I realise some of my opinions will get questioned, and that I should argue my points more when they do, I won't be, because the computer takes half an hour to load and I'm not really bothered if people disagree. Everyone entitled to an opinion and all that...

    Just a quick response:

Point 1 - that's several managers who havent thought so. Did you post this point after we had won 3 on the trot? Tom is the best player in the world in his head and that's half the problem.

Point 5 - he came back after not making the bench for the 2nd worst team in the entire country. I don't really need to say any more on this one.

Tom Cairney is not the best player in the squad.

Nor is he the best midfielder in the squad.

What today showed is we need to freshen things up a bit, get some new ideas, be able to play a different way at times. Therefore, I feel January is a very big month for us. A couple of additions in the right areas could make a big difference. We can't rely on the same couple of people all the time.

I expect some in the side are a little jaded by now. Many are ever-presents, and have played a lot of games already.

    No disaster yet.

    Point 1 - No he isn't.

Point 2 - Their keeper made an absolutely world class save (with a bit of luck) from Fryatts effort and Koren normally hits the back of the net from where he shot from 2nd half. If either of those go in this point would be invalid! We could do with attacking with a bit more urgency and when we move the ball at a quicker pace we do look dangerous but I like to see the game played how we try and play it, unfortunately teams seem to have figured out how to stop us so we must move come up with different ways of playing!

Point 3 - I agree Garcia should have come on.

    Point 4 - No idea.

    Point 5 - Ridiculous.

    Point 6, 7 and 8 - Erm...

Maybe best to get home, calm down, have your tea, watch some telly, go out, get pi55ed, go to sleep, wake up on Sunday morning and reflect on saturdays game then.

Otherwise you could make yourself look a complete cock by ranting.

    1) Cairney best player? What of Koren, Stewart especially Mckenna, for whom Cairney vies for a place in the team?
    2) We can and do attack. It's a feature of our game, it's Barmbys DNA. We haven't scored due to poor finishing, and perhaps other teams sussing out the way we play and going defensive on us . i.e. Boro and today (didn't go to Burnley so can't comment).
    3) Agree re Barmby on the bench, I said as much a few days ago. Need his guile from the middle of the pitch for at least the last 20 of games.
    4) Pusic - 2 weeks away from fitness is better than 24 hours from Tulsa.
    5) Devitt - good player, his time will come.
    6) Initiative from Dawson. 99% of the time walls 'jump' so why not try something different.
    7) Why not go to the Ipswich game? You do SUPPORT the team don't you? Or are one one of the many fickle c**ts that the first time things go 'wrong' you starty bleating? Christ how long has Barmby been in charge and already it has started with him, and he is the local lad done good.
    8) Good

As opposed to this post of brilliance from you.

    As for Rick...

    1. I'd like to see him play, I really don't get why McKenna is getting so much praise.
    2. We do need a new striker, but I'm perplexed as to why Barmby brought McLean off early but left the ineffective Stewart on all game.
    3. No.
    4. Who cares? He's ****e.
    5. I thought he was good, no idea what went on at Bradford.
    6. Disappointing to say the least.
    7. I'm not bothering.
    8. Shame, keep posting, don't be put off by morons such as From Boothferry to Wembley. He licks windows.

Cairney started off well this season but went off the boil slightly, back to how he was last season. Good player, but seems to cocky and that;s his down fall. Mckenna and Evans have being doing well enough to keep him out of the team.
Need a striker or two definetly.
Not the first time people have said in the 2nd half this is where Barmby was at his best for us this season, and i'd have brought Garcia on too.
Not seen Pusic play, he sounded good but looks like Appleby mark 2!
No idea on Devitt, might be worth a chance but not the solution by any means.
Should have gone for the top corner, wasted a good chance for a goal.
Would like us to have a go at the cup this year, not there though as i have exams to revise for.

    1. Cairney is very good technically, however the reason he is not starting is simply because he's lazy, weak and isn't very effective at Championship level. I expect he'll be going on loan in January. It's probably worth keeping hold of him because of his good passing ability and the fact that he'll be a better player a Premiership level.

    2. You're right, Fryatt isn't doing the business at the moment however he's not a bad player. His movement and ability to score a goal out of nothing are the best parts of his game however he does need to become more clinical in some situations. In January hopefully we'll bring in a new striker to provide Fryatt with some competition and another goal threat that we can at least bring on from the bench.

    3. Garcia definitely should've come on and it was a poor decision not to bring him on by Barmby.

    4. Pusic's injury doesn't seem to be going away, therefore unfortunately we'll be releasing him in January according to OLM.

    5. Jamie Devitt is certainly not a great player, he is not good enough at this level. Recently I talked to a Bradford supporter who said he is not playing well at Bradford and doesn't look good enough for League 2 either.

    6. Ask Dawson.

    7. I'm sure we'll prioritize the league over the cup, however I expect to see a near full strength side with a couple of players rested who are tired. I expect Dawson and Stewart will definitely be rested.

    8. Ok. :)
