"Do you really want to go back to the 2000's when it was just one team totally dominating everything again?"

Isn't that half of the problem now? Red Bull are about to take a 4th consecutive drivers title and in F1 coming second means very little. It's all getting very repetitive again. A lot of people think there's only one driver capable of winning and any race series where the conclusion is foreseeable is not going to attract many fans. Getting rid of overtaking aids and tyres which need special management would help. F1 = passionate about racing? I don't think so, anymore (sadly).

The real racing over a weekend is happening in GP2/3 where just about any driver has a chance of getting a result.

It's one driver at the moment. Vettel is dominating rather than Red Bull, but it's not by the margins Ferrari were squashing the opposition with a decade ago. Quite a few races have been tight and the title has gone down to the wire a few times, or be it with Vettel coming out on top.

You say getting rid of the overtaking aids would help, but these were brought in to help overtaking as there wasn't enough of it. It's getting the balance right that is the main thing, but this is hard as at one race it will be too easy to overtake and everyone will complain, the next race is processional and everyone complains. There is no real happy-medium that can be found.

The position F1 is in is nothing new. Happens every decade, then the rules change, it all gets mixed up for a bit but then sorts itself out again until the next rule change. The cream will always rise to the top.

I havnt minded the Vettel dominance. Its actually been close each race for the last 2 years. The real problem is money in the sport. also F1 is supposed to be the pinnacle of motor racing yet its not the top #22 drivers in the world. half the field are pay drivers

When F1 was free-to-air everywhere, it had ubiquity and anyone could watch it. I suspect that Sky underestimated the level of casual fandom and overestimated those who really care about it. As for the F1 simulation show, why don't you pitch it to a TV exec? There'll be a gap in the market when the X Factor goes ;)

in all fairness, I think he would have done a better job than kovi at McLaren but he would have charged a bomb to do it.

In regards to overtaking I'd like to seem them race at tracks where you actually CAN overtake. If the tracks weren't so shoddily designed nowadays we might actually see more natural overtaking rather than manufactured overtaking through the use of aids. It doesn't even matter if the track is a classic track or a new track, they need to go to courses that will naturally provide a lot of overtaking.

Obviously thats a somewhat sensitive issue, what with F1 wanting to be a global sport and all (theres also this money thing that drives a lot of what happens in F1 right now). But would we rather have a bunch of tracks all over the world for the sake of having it be vastly multicultural? Or not be as spread out and have overall better tracks? Of course, we could design better tracks in more widespread places, but that takes a lot of money and time to the point that its not usually a sustainable idea. Especially considering you have to actually get people to the tracks otherwise you aren't gonna make the money back from these circuits.

Now, I don't want it to sound like I hate all the tracks or something. In fact, I like quite a few of them, but certainly some could be cut out in favor of better ones for the sake of having better racing. Of course, none of the fixes we want are all that easy and I do agree that most of these issues will eventually sort themselves out. The best drivers will inevitably rise to the top because of their talent, I just wish (like many of you) that there was less of a focus on money in the sport. Its what keeps it all ticking but lately it seems to be a bit out of hand.

I say we need Frijns to shake up the boat a bit, just one massive talented asshole to stick it to the top drivers and stay that way.
