I joined in January 2011 as MannyF1MSC, with a couple of other nomads looking for a place to chat about F1 after BBC 606 closed down, I think DH/Bando/NickHAFC were the other few on here. It is probably not a surprise to say that I have been getting a bit irritated and ratty on the board with fellow users, of which I can only apologise. For the past 2 years and 5 months I have enjoyed every single moment, debating, arguing and having a good old laugh. Sometimes to the complete maximum (Miggins/Cosicave/Chris). I have also left before and then returned but that is another story. I feel though that it's been a great place to share and contribute topics and threads relating to the sport we love, I have had a good old laugh to the fullest with some memorable characters on here. I developed from a complete fanboy in my mid-teens, to a guy that likes a laugh to someone that just doesn't have the time or effort anymore very quickly. I think my time on here is running out, studying is becoming a priority and my ability to debate well with yourselves is deteriorating as you can see. The only negative I guess was the inability to (whilst being balanced) criticise/praise Hamilton and criticise/praise Schumacher (massive opposites) whilst staying in a good light with everybody. I guess I sadly had to sacrifice some relationships on here because of it. All in all though it's been a good run, thank you to everybody for that. please log in to view this image Feel free to delete my account.
Hoped it wasn't going to be something like this when I saw the title. Get over yourself. This isn't the first time you've "left the forum" and I'm sure it won't be the last. And change your name back to Manny, it's a better name.
Hmm, I wondered if something like this was coming after he was moaning about the sweepstakes and the race game. Still, seems incredibly over the top, but you'll be more than welcome back whenever you fancy it Manny/EMSC.
Naaaaaah... you can't bugger off. Not 606 without Manny would be like a prostate exam without the finger up your arse. Just kidding... Seriously though, I don't see any reason to leave. You're not contracted to post X times per day or required to agree with a majority. My only advice would be from one F1 fan to another... Just enjoy the racing. Don't let any part of it make you bitter.. otherwise there is no point. Stick around... and party on dude!
It's you bloody Hamelots driving all the good posters away. First Silver, now Manny. Soon it's going to be comply or die.
Ya know... I actually wish Hamilton would bugger off from F1, both he and Vettel... because all of the pro/anti for either makes me despise them both and I'm fed up of it interfering with my enjoyment of the sport I am also sick if this "Hamelot" BS... It's fine to generalize and insult one set of fans but everybody else has to be pampered? Grow a pair and shut the hell up.
Well that escalated very bloody quickly!!! Seriously Manny, you can't leave, you haven't reached even half of Silver's paranoia level. You won't let us down by staying here, you'll let us down by leaving.
How did the 'Hamelots drive Silver away? He self destructed over the Radio 5 Live preview show as his own paranoia over, well , everything enveloped his whole like and he melted away like the wicked withs from the Wizard of Oz. Any driver who faces criticism is entitled to be defended if the criticism is over the top or unfounded. It's called debate. It's a forum. No one has had a personal swipe at anyone, which when you see the other boards on 606, shows what a good community the F1 board actually is. If Manny does go, he will be missed as is Silver, but the forum is bigger than the individual posters who frequent it and the board will continue.
Well, I missed all the fuss yesterday but, having read back through it all, I can't see why Manny's so upset. Seriously, EMSC, you've been through worse on here and didn't seem so bothered by it so why now? I hope you change your mind though because, as with others here, I'd miss you. As ASC says, this board is a lot better than others, generally.
Never knew being away for a few days would have this effect on Manny... Come back fella, seriously! Its a better place with the likes of yourself and Silver, can't have the main posters/characters/contributors to this forum up sticks and leave..
Jesus Sh*T just got real, dude its the internet we are all arguging about drivers who are all multi millionaires with fit looking girlfriends! this is riduclous, just treat it as banter and move on with your lives.
Can see his point, if getting sucked into pointless arguments on the internet is interfering in his studies the best thing to do would be curtail it a bit, but asking for the account to be deleted is going a bit far.
Okay... I wasn't here at the weekend what in god's name happened that caused Manny to do this? And why is this now becoming a trend for members to announce this kind of thing? Some people clearly taking things to seriously, unless something personal as been said on here that I am not aware of.
I literally don't think any of us have a clue. He got a bit frustrated with a couple of the games, and I can understand quitting to concentrate on your studies, but exams'll be over in a month so it doesn't really make sense to me to make a big thing of leaving. I hope it's not becoming a thing, it's only Silver and Manny as far as I'm aware, and I'm hoping that's just down to them both being fairly highly-strung rather than something we're doing wrong as a forum. If we are doing something wrong, it doesn't help for them to leave without giving us a chance to make changes.
DHC (and all others who are genuinely concerned, especially moderators). Tolerating disrespectful posts (in which I include the use of unnecessarily bad language) is the root of the problem. This may be an unpleasant thing to have to speak of but we should remember that an internet forum is a place where people interact only in the written word. It is therefore imperative that the basic mode of interaction, language, is relatively restrained to avoid offence and/or causing misunderstanding. I have no wish to single out individuals but when a culture of debate is developed which normalises such behaviour, it necessarily loses its most essential ingredient: quality. Without quality, standards inevitably slip. - - - o0o - - - Do we have 'House Rules' any more? If so, where are they? If so, why are they not readily on show? And if so, are they being adhered to? One can only wonderâ¦
The presumed thread in question which seems to have been the catalyst, was the last few pages of the Spanish GP thread. Having read through it again ( as I was party to all this), no house rules were broken as the conversation was civil, no personal insults etc, just a differing view of what is acceptable from a driver when it comes to what he can and cannot say over the radio. Hopefully its just exam stress and Manny will cool down and see it as an overreaction.
