it used to be said “that was a good tackle”.....think Peter Rodriques, Bobby Moore...Mel Sutton etc! It’s now about the tug...they”ll be saying “oh, sign him he’s s good tugger”! The coaches are creating players with little tackling abilities...aka Gabor Gyepes, best remembered for taking one for the team. The thing is that particularly in the penalty area it’s going unnoticed, or unpunished! Have I been watching this game too long? :emoticon-0103-cool:

Dunno Masky - but tell us about Ron Stitfall. Don Murray is the first I can remember with that sort of policy.

He was said to say to opposing centre forwards - "you may get past me pal and the ball may get past me, but both of you wont"....<laugh>

You remember Peter Rodrigues, he of the legendary sliding tackle Sparkey pal, came after Stitfall. I didn’t mention Don Murray because he bruised you “fairly”, not a tugger! Doris is a tugger! :emoticon-0103-cool:

I do indeed remember Peter Rodrigues Masky. I think I caught his last season with us before he went to Leicester.

Could only have been 8 or 9 then - that sliding tackle was his signature.
