Fulham fans were paid tribute to by Leicester City boss Micky Adams for his rousing welcome back to Craven Cottage in the club's last game at the famous stadium before its redevelopment. Adams returned five years after being sacked as Fulham manager and his defensive Leicester team ruined West London's celebratory goodbye to their 105-year home by battling out a dull goalless draw.Leicester gatecrashed the send-off with a dogged display in a niggly game, but Adams admitted he was delighted with his return. He said: "We were well aware of the carnival atmosphere but if a cake was being presented we wanted to blow out the candles. "I can only apologise to the fans that it wasn't the most entertaining game in the world. They gave me a great reception and it was more than I expected. This is a special place for me and I had a special rapport with them, so I thank them for their welcome. I'm glad the Fulham fans are reaping the rewards of sticking with the club through the dark days. "I think the fans stay with you providing they see effort from the players and some decent football" And then it got BETTER in 2010
Gera's goal celebration against Hamburg remained my laptop wallpaper for a few years after that fateful night.
