Interesting Facebook post from a former 606 user who we (Sweats, me and Tunns) used to converse with on a daily basis.

    Now, this bloke is a season ticket holder, has been for six or so years I think. Have a read;

"Well. I thought I was willing to give moyes a chance, but deep down - I'm not.
All his decisions so far point to bland & uninspiring.
He's gonna slowly turn us into mega-Everton.
He'll get 6 months max to prove himself with the fans & I expect him gone by next summer."

How the **** can someone judge these 'decisions'? The bloke has not even started his job yet.

Now, I'm dismissing this as the whining of someone who decided to jump on the United badwaggon because we are good, having never bloody well bothered prior to that, and is spitting his dummy because he fears he might not get the trophy he so obviously thinks he deserves at the end of the 'six months' he's prepared to give Moyes, but if this is what some normally sensible(ish) fans are thinking then Moyes is ****ed as the prawn sandwich brigade won't give him a second.

This is ridiculous, words spoken by someone who doesn't realise and appreciate we've been **** before and could easily be **** again. And the reason we could easily be again is if 'fans' start calling for Moyes head before giving him any sensible chance and the Glazers panic and start the sackings.

That could **** up the club, and it would be down to those people, not Moyes.

    Thoughts.

    I whole heartedly agree.

The bloke needs a good couple of seasons. If in his third season we are relegation fodder then clearly he has to go. He is inheriting a good side, not the best we have ever had but still better than most in the league.

I fully expect us to win nothing for a few seasons while he beds in. Hopefully we can still challenge.

I dont get the fightball comment, as I have never really seen evidence thats how everton have played.. when i watched them, they always seemed to have a game plan to who the opposition were. Personally some of the football we have played over the last couple of seasons has been ****e at times. and sometimes very negative so i dont see much difference.

Bearing in mind when I remember us playing everton they have done ok against us so moyes clearly knew how to exploit our deficiencies so hopefully will have the funds to invest and counter balance them.

I dont think Moyes is the most inspirational appointment but honestly who else would we have gone for? all the others options were **** and ultimately pointless.

I know, utterly ridiculous thing to say.

I am prepared to batten down the hatches and give him the two full seasons that Sweats suggests with season three being the crucial one if there are no trophies. What he is saying goes against the grain of everything that is United.

Busby lasted over twenty five years and won five league titles. Then we changed the manager five or six times and didn't win the league again until Ferguson who also lasted over 25 years and won 13 league titles.

Doesn't take a genius does it?

I'm happy to go longer than 3 seasons without winning anything.. I think we need to be mounting serious challenges within 3 seasons. I think the testing point will be is if we end up toward the bottomof the table in his first season. the same way rogers started at pool. Hopefully there wont be a knee jerk reaction if we start badly.. As if there are a section of glory hunting United fans ready and waiting to get on his back we will be doomed as it will have a negative effect on the team.

Though until we actually play a game under Moyes who ****ing knows. We might be ****ing brilliant. To be fair to Moyes he has brought in some good players into premier league football and turned players who no other team would have looked at in to top quality players.

Yeah it's good some of you are prepared to give him time, I'm not sure what the general consensus is among united fans but surely the majority will see he needs 2 or so seasons?

One thing I'm interested in seeing is how he performs in the transfer market with more money. Will he go for shrewd signings in a similar ilk to how he did at Everton or will he go for big names.

I hope he does a combintion of both. As thats what we have always done. there have always been prospects bought and solid established names. Some of (quite a few really) of the prospects have been utter dross. so it wont take much for him to outperform in that sense. I've often thought our scouting network is ****. the best buys we have had are when we have played against someone who has done well against us.

Was it the original SG guy (Foo) or don't you lads see / speak to him now ?

Regardless of who said it it's stupid really. It's people who are scared of change.

I'm not happy about the coaches going but that's not to say I'm not prepared to back and give the new coaches the time and fans support they need <ok>

Thing is you aren't used to not winning and seeing your team play good attacking football

Im pretty sure you would change your tune if you were mid table (not likely I know) coupled with a few bad team performances

He may well play safe and go for the combo of both, by that I mean Fellaini to start with. He's shrewd, he knows him but is also a bit of a big name now. And try to keep Rooney.

If Rooney is beyond saving then it will be get best price for him and then he has to go for the big signing, my personal opinion being that Bale would then be the go to one as he's still not having to deal with enormous foreign name import.

We'll see though eh, he's not actually in the job yet.

    How do you know?

I had a season ticket and Ralph Milne was in the bleeding first eleven.

(scouse fan in glib assumption that we all started supporting United because of success, shocker)

Theres plenty of United fans who were used to not winning stuff. Issue is there are also probably alot more fans who have only ever known us winning things.. Local people too.

Will be a test of character I think, and i suspect most or an awful lot of fans will react the same way as the person in question in the thread.

We'll see then, you've been spoilt with a great manager unfortunately

If you have a few bad team performances Moyes will be under incredible pressure

Who knows, you might beat all in front of you but we shall see

I always thought Moyes was very tactical astute and played different tactics against different teams, it will be nice to see what he comes up with against the top European sides. Maybe he wont lift any trophies in his first year as i can see the other big clubs buying big this year but i think he will definitely be challenging for everything.

I'm sure some whiny little ****ers were saying the same thing when SAF ditched Whiteside and McGrath. And when we didn't sign Shearer, Sneijder, Ronaldinho, Ribery etc.

It's all a matter of perspective, and it's utterly ridiculous to be judging a manager before he's even started work.

I agree, and that quote now looks like it's attributed to me. Far from it, as you no doubt know.

It's quite a funny facebook status, he's getting a load of **** from his mates, including me, and he's just talking utter ****ing bollocks. A bit sad really, some cock with a season ticket not giving a new manager even a chance before he's even started work. As one of his mates pointed out, Moyes will find someone who can put the cones out just as well as Phelan could.

Unfortunately there will probably be quite a few like him.

    I know, that's a blinder isn't it?

Because the first thing you do if you've been working in the kitchen at the local pub and get the job of head chef at the only michelin restaurant in town is to start serving pie and chips in the restaurant!

You might employ the pot washer, trainee and the glass collecter from the pub if you know they work hard and have potential but otherwise you adapt to your new surroundings which have better facilities and funding and ingredients and you get on with your promotion.

Best analogy I could come up wth off the top of me head.
