Chelsea fan here just saying well done on beating us on Saturday. I went to the game in January where we won 5-1 and had a brilliant time. Top atmosphere. Good banter and all that. I went on Saturday as well... it's a brilliant away day. The pub before the game was mental and we had some good banter with the Saints fans to our left (as we were right on the barrier). However... as is seeming to be a common factor this season, the day out is better than the footie. Rafa openly admits you're a good side especially at home and yet he puts out a weakened team!? Makes no sense. Oscar, Marin, Ivanovic, Mikel and Bertrand were all hopeless. I don't know why Ramires and Hazard didn't start. Bringing Benayoun on for Oscar when you need a goal!? Rafa surpasses himself he really does! But credit to you... you stopped us from playing our game. You lads will be perfectly fine come the end of the season. You're a top side with a good fan base and it's a good day out. Luke Shaw is gunna be a star. He is a superb left back. That Lambert goal was class and you all put a shift in. When Adkins got the boot I feared the worst for you but you've done superbly since. I like many other Chelsea fans thought it would be a walk in the park for us tbh given our very recent form but you were very very impressive so well done. A great atmosphere, a great day out but a **** result. Fair play to you Saints... you full deserved the 3 points and the 4 points you've taken off us this season. See you next season for sure
Cheers for that! Have to say you're right, I swiftly got some money on us when I saw the team sheets! Glad you enjoyed your day out, hopefully see you again next season!
Cheers Bucks....yeah there was some good banter with your lot..Luke is the future England LB and could win 100 caps, he is a boy in a man's body with a man's temperament. I reckon that it's all set up for the second coming of "The special one" next season and you'll be challenging the Manc clubs at the very top...Good Luck in beating Spuds and L'Arse to the Champions League...
Cheers it will be a close run thing but first of all we have to beat United tomorrow which will be tough... I'm on an 8 hour plane journey during the match which could work to my advantage! Hopefully we'll beat the Arse and the spuds but it'll be too close to call...
It is always nice to receive praise from opposition fans, however what I like about this post is the accurate assessment of the game. Thanks once again and hope the Chelsea that played Man U in the FA Cup return for the replay. As for Benitez, my main criticism of him has always been his selection changes; at Liverpool his chopping and changing often cost him points. Now one could argue that it is good he has faith in his squad players and people such as Marin, who you have paid a princely sum for should be able to come in and do better, so I think the players also have to shoulder some of the criticism. I thought John Terry was your best player by a long way but your midfield lack energy until Ramires came on.
It's obviously great for us to win, but in premier league you also want to see the best players. Hazard was sensational and I'm thankful he only got a cameo at the end. Mata was ill which helped us too. Due to our PL hiatus I have not seen Terry play live and for a guy supposedly on the downturn he was still impressive. Especially his vision. I was disappointed with Oscar and a few Chelsea officials must have watched the difference in performance of Cork & Mikel and thought oops. Get a manager you can all get behind. Swap Lukaku for Torres and you'll have a more sustained challenge next season.
Cheers Bucks, would have liked you to have plaed us with mata, cole, Ba and Ramirez, but not to be: you may even have scrapped a point like at the bridge.... just kidding. Good to see a gracious opponent come on and say well done.
Chelsea gave us a tougher game than City or Liverpool. We have not taken all 3 points when we should, so we have paid our dues. Saints will give any team a game now. As you have played us twice, good luck for the rest of the season.
Well done the Blues. It was the same players that played against us that did all of the work, I thought Mata looked jaded and Luiz didn't do any better than Terry, Ba had a chance and took it, that was the difference, was it an off day for Manure or a good performance by Chelsea, I expect a lot of different opinions, we have still got a chance that our CV will show we were knocked out by the the eventual Winners!
