I have been listening to Radio Stoke this morning and I was surprised that about 99% of the callers were sad to see that Tony Pulis has moved on. I don`t believe that that is a fair representation of the Stoke supporters views. I understand that 8,000 supporters failed to renew their season tickets during the early bird sales. That is what the real supporters think of Pulis. I am glad to see the back of him but I understand that Mark Hughes is now favourite to take his place. I would have preferred Pulis to have stayed rather than appoint him.

In black paint on an old sheet, the angry, defi ant words read: “Mark Hughes ruined our season but no one will ruin our club. We are QPR”. Hughes signed a raft of players on big salaries that antagonised those already at the club. That resentment has festered and fermented ever since and, as well as wrecking the team spirit, Hughes’ recruits took the club’s expenditure on wages to a ruinous 91 per cent of turnover.
I dont really think its support for Pulis more having respect now that he has moved on. On P&G the anti TIP callers were respectful and constructive and I think that is different to being supportive of him - there is no need to rant and rave whne the problem has gone. As much as we have run high with our passions in the past, because he has gone without creating major issues it is easier to reflect in a more respectful manner - even if you do think he is a tw@t. Also P&G (radio Stoke) have always been selective in the views they allow to be aired so as you say its hard to know whether those calls were reflective. In addition, I would imagine most anit TP supporters wouldnt be bothered to call in and are probably recovering from a hangover?
I mentioned some time ago that some bunch of youngsters on not 606 will be bored out of their minds. Some old guys on about the Pulis Era. I said elsewhere, Hughes is not my choice, but he did a great job at Blackburn with limited resources!!

The board had backed him royally, making Stoke City was one of the highest net-spenders in the Premier League, but the continued progress just wasn't there. Pulis talked often about "pushing on", but never really seemed to show any indication that he was prepared to do that. Regardless of how much money we spent the way we played seemed to be locked in, and the better quality players we did sign were expected to fit into what we already had, rather than having things built around them. In the past two seasons we also seemed to lose a sense of who we were, and despite the sizeable amount of money being spent our ambition, from the manager's point of view, seemed to be about no more than earning 40 points. On top of that, the quality of the football simply did not reflect the amount of money we had spent on assembling our squad, and neither did the lack of options we had in certain positions. We had a reputation as being the most unentertaining team to watch in the top flight, and so many different statistics sadly backed that up. In my own mind, I feel that the board probably came to the decision that TP would keep us up all right, but at a large cost each season, and without too much use of the youth or academy system. 99 per cent is ball locks guys... look at the S/T not taken up for next season it say's more than any radio station can. Plus, they hack me off mostly they seem to support Pulis and never have I heard one presenter criticise him? The true picture is "Number of tickets NOT yet taken up" Not some local radio station who ask you to pre book if you want to go on air and comment. I'm not sad at all, just pleased that as (a club) we can move on now. Why should we be sad? Pulis is a very, very rich man. You think he really does care about SCFC or us the fans. I don't personally.
Care, he couldn't even bring himself to use the name Stoke City, It was this football club or the football club. Glad he's gone, would have been happier still if it were 3 years ago that he went, he's soured the club the players and the fans!!!
I'd be interested to see how many have, like you Potts, renewed since the news broke. I imagine its more than just a few.
