Do you think this would be enough for automatic promotion?. I have studied our remaining fixtures and come up with the following results. H Derby - win 3 A Watford - draw 1 A Leeds - loss 0 H Ipswich - Win 3 H Barnsley - win 3 A Millwall - draw 1 A Hull - loss 0 H Doncaster - win 3 A Blackpool - loss 0 H Pompey - win 3 A Palace - draw 1 H Reading - win 3 A Peterboro - draw 1 A Middlesboro - loss 0 H Coventry - win 3 I have looked at this and been as honest as I can be, Some of the games I have called draws in could go either way but this my realistic points tally for the end of the season. If there is any stats people out there who could tell me how many points the runners up have been promoted with over the last few years would appreciate it. On another note as much as I love Guly I feel Punch has to start on Saturday and I think its about time Lee started ahead of Sharp he is deserving of a chance to prove himself.
Middlesbrough don't win many at home so I reckon we can get some valuable points there before the final game
you've got us to win all our remaining home games, although posible i think a little unlikely as coming to the end of the season we are gonna be playing teams fighting for survival and for promotion. I think we are gonna need to pick up more away wins which we can do. Also i think our run in on paper is just about the easiest of the teams chasing promotion.
I have done the away games against the so called bigger teams as defeats, I did this as a worst case scenario as these teams on their day should be winning a home match against us or anyone else. I do think that points tally could go five points either side but come up with the figure of 81. With regards to Leeds I think they will have a new manager by then and a new drive and focus I would take a point at their place all day long.
Blimey evolution my points tally would not be enough then On another note your extremely brave to predict only one more defeat this season if you are correct though I would happily buy you 10 pints of your favourite poison on me. Hold me to that
we've gone on crazy runs in the last two season in the run-in, though im not saying we're gonna win 13 out of 15 like last but we will do well with our strength in depth. also boro need to start scoring goals our they'll not be in playoff hunt much longer which may lead to an easier game come april.
Would be nice to have a run like the end of last season.... I have said this before and will again this milder weather will see a upturn in our fortunes we like warmth our form goes in really cold weather.
agreed, its a lot easier to go somewhere like peterborough with every point mattering at the end than the middle of december when the league is still taking shape.
Pooh..! No BBC Predictor anymore. There I was, enjoying the new look Beeb Sports website and winding myself up to do my first stint on the predictor for the season and the bloody thing isn't there any more. Well it's not good enough..! Mr I.M. Angry Southampton
No - if you look at the previous seasons records then 86 points is the benchmark. Given that we have some strong teams coming into the hunt; any less will be a risk. We need to win some games on the road and stop leaking goals...
Aha..! But the BBC didn't figure with Southampton's own Mr Cunning-Bleeder: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/predictor/default.stm If you're interested, bookmark the link as it's impossible to find by the normal method.
I reckon 83 points, think that will be enough this year, I don't feel the league is as strong as last year, but it all depends on whether the teams we are playing are on form.
