Ok, lets put last week behind us, we are we're we are, onwards and upwards; Next Seven Coventry = Win Millwall away = sneaky win Boro = 1-0 Win Watford away = Draw Barnsley = Win Forest = Win West Ham = who cares we'll be in the playoffs if these predictions come through ! So starting Saturday lets get behind the team for a final push! Come on City !
Tickler is that you?? Sorry Jobbo. Ye we have the best run in. Spoilt the ship for a happorth a tar Mr Allam.
We need a result tomorrow to arrest the slide. Millwall I'd sacrifice to ensure we have a fresh side against M'boro two days later*. After that we're back to having reasonable breaks between games and the players can recover from the run they've had. *Beat Millwall and lose to M'boro and the best we can hope for is M'boro losing their other game so that we match them over the weekend. If we have the results the other way round then the worst that can happen is M'boro win their other game and match us.
We do quite well at Watford, so a win there could happen (if anyone from our team remembers to shoot!). Brighton will beat Middlesborough, so will Southampton and Cardiff will get a point (see how optimistic I am trying to be?)
Although we may not make the play offs, i'd rather see us finish the season with a bang than a whimper like we've seen the last couple of games. Despite the results we're still just outside the play offs, there's no point throwing in the towel just yet. We just need evidence on the pitch to make us feel that we can get there and finish as high as possible! That evidence (which we know is there somewhere) needs to start showing itself from tomorrow.
Well said and almost agree. I think a draw @ Millwall(this is normally a grave yard for us) and Win @ Watford is more likely on previous seasons form. But yes all those games are very winnable IF the team play as they can and beleave in themselves again. Or better still, just play like they did at Cardiff City not so long ago.
I'm sorry but that's far too optimistic for my liking Hull 2-0 Coventry Millwall 1-1 Hull Hull 0-1 Middlesbrough Watford 1-2 Hull Hull 1-0 Barnsley Hull 0-0 Forest West Ham 2-0 Hull Unfortunately it won't be enough - and unless we improve vastly we won't even get anywhere near that.
Middlesboro and Forest results aside you may not be that far out.!!! The West Ham game could well be a lottery (team wise) if there is nothing riding on it.
Why do so many people use this logic? It's bollocks. We could well get those results but it'll be in no way influenced by previous season's results.
Its not bollocks at all. Name the last time a Hull City team Won @ Millwall then ? Even back in the Wagstaff and Chilton days we got our backsides kicked at The Den.!!!
I'm not denying it happened I'm saying it's complete and utter horseshit to suggest that just because NP's team lost there last season, that will somehow affect how we fare under NB this year with a totally different XI to the one we have now. For example when we got beat by Burnley this season it wasn't because they've beat us before it was because of stupid defensive errors.
Anyway as for the point of the thread, Jobbo may be being overly optimistic but that's the best we can do now. I've been as negative as everyone else lately but we need to forget about that now and just support the team the best we can. We're still in with a good chance mathematically, the only thing stopping us is the slide in form. Let's just get behind the team for the last few games and see what they can do.
I agree with you re.Burnley this season. Both games lost due to player errors. Just Millwall for some reason has a hex on us. We had a 1-1 draw down there @ The New Den a few years ago and thats the best result in decades. Its just that Millwall whatever side we have had gets beat there. A few have been down to Millwall being good on the day. Watford just has this Happy feel to it when we go and sun always seams to shine there on matchdays. Sods law this season maybe will see us Win @ the Den and loose @ Watford.
Exactly. Too many people get mixed up in the difference between pure fluke and actual factors. Ie Burnley are our 'Bogey' team but that doesn't mean that there's some sort of advantage in the next game, it just so happens that we've lost each time, whether it be a poor display or something controversial (like that bloody Geovanni free kick that still pisses me off to this day) Come to think of it, we barely ever seem to lose to Burnley in a fashion in which we can't have too many complaints. (Edit) Great, you've stopped debating it whilst I've been typing this^^
This is what I hope will happen but things never go to plan do they! Coventry = Win Millwall away = draw Boro = loss Watford away = draw Barnsley = win Forest = draw West Ham = draw Don't think this will be enough but am looking forward to whatever happens, we aren't in a relegation battle so really things aren't bad as some of the voices of doom on here and Blunderside make out
As do I of course, one loss in the last seven is still good even if it isn't enough, hopefully next season I will be able to mark draws as wins at the same stage!
