surely this will have cheered c-g and the rest of you up. if you come out of the traps like this. next season you will truly storm league 2 and deserve to. well done the gas. irene says pinch me someone. the tinpots are flying as well
We look like a side with a good understanding so if we can keep the majority of these lads together we should be fine. Really good to see another Academy player doing well - I think young Eliot Richards will be quite a force.
Great win, but we still have major work to be done next season IMO. We need to sort out a GK, 2 Midfielders and a proper striker (Richards looks very good, but not sure he will be the 20+ man we require) Time will tell, but if MM is capable of getting those quality players in next season, then we should do well. I wouldn't be happy with anything less than top 7 next season, but would HOPE we are capable of a top 3 place
How can you say that Richards won't be a 20+ man when he's already scored 11 in 17 starts?!? Ok, he's played as a sub quite a bit, but he's got great insticts - I can't remeber anyone else who's nicked goals from under the noses of defenders/goalkeepers like he has. He's got pace, vision and he's hit some great strikes to score too.I think he's a gem...and he wants to play for Rovers.
I can't see him getting 20+ goals either he's good to have as a sub or back up player we need a striker in the Cureton mould but fair play to Richards he's done well this season, IMO we need at least six or seven new players, two CB, two CM and two strikers.
I'm with Gastro on this - I do think that Elliot has what it takes to go on and be that 20 a season striker we're after. He's got instinct, pace and a bit of vision and he'll only get better. We need to keep him, Muzzy, Jim P, Harrold, Downes, amongst others for next season and also strengthen. But in the meantime, lets win our last games and finish as high as possible.
You may be right. I never said he doesn't have the ability to get 20+ goals a season by the way guys, I just dont think he will. He apparently has an appauling attitude as well so unless he sorts that out, he wont be here next season, let alone scoring 20+ goals for us
Yes, in today's Evil Post Muzzy alludes to the fact that Elliot isn't very good in training! But, hey-ho, he can be Mario Ballotelli in training for all I care as long as he scores goals when it matters. One thing is for sure, in Mark McGhee we have a manager who can get the best out of 'awkward' characters like him. I just hope that we retain the services of both next season.
If we can keep/hold on to Richards, Carayol and Harrold; and trade off Zebroski and Anyinsah for a good and committed striker I think we'll be well set up front.
But no matter what all are opinions are on Richards will can all agree that Carayol is our key player for winning promotion next season, I can see him firing on all cylinders next season and maybe our next million pound player.
Richards and Harrold have the look of a decent partnership. Really good understanding and between them able to give defences a problem. Carayol's a different class and will probably end up in the Championship at least in a couple of years. but hopefully by then he'll have helped us up the league.
Yep he is the exciting one out of a rather poor bunch though, but never the less he still has quality. Don't think he will be here come August because as soon as a little bit of green goes the boards way, they can't resist it...He will be gone for about 100k. AJ dont be silly, If the Shrews spent 75k, they would go bust.
In all fairness AJ, there's not one single Rovers player that would get in our current line-up. Saying that though, I too have heard a rumour.. Tinpots for L1, eh Chwissy boy!
Yes indeed, Tinpots for League 1 - until they get a nosebleed, unaccustomed as they are to the altitude, and then come crashing back down next season in time for us to pass them on our way back up!
