Fastest selling paperback of all time (UK). A novel, well almost, about a girl with absolutely no self esteem who is willing to pretty much do anything for some bloke. He, in turn, is keen to see how low the girl will plunge. I'm assuming the 3rd book will be set in Mexico where she can find out if horse riding is her cup 'o tea.

I wouldn't read it if you paid me, and I wouldn't let my wife either. It's disgusting the way women are treated in literature and film these days. And what will all this liberal thinking lead to? A further corruption of our already frail, moral society. I say it's time to get back to some serious book burning, and the sooner the better. Everyone knows that trash such as this can inflict much too strong a grip on the weaker sex, so in the best interests of our women and children, who rely so heavily upon us for protection and comfort, we must make serious steps to get our culture back on track.

So in a post decrying peoples attitudes towards women you tell us that you pick and chose what books she can read.

From what I've heard, it sounds like the script to a relatively expensive, if heavily cliched, bit of porn.
Young, innocent college girl meets powerful, successful businessman who introduces her into his world of kinky BDSM sex.
He buys her stuff and doesn't want any commitment at all, dominates her and shags her a lot.
This is the **** that men would get a lot of stick for liking from feminists, repackaged for women who want a modern romance novel.

It started as a piece of Twilight fan fiction, for ****'s sake.

Apparently the movie rights have already been bought.

Although I could have sworn I actually saw the movie already about 10 years ago...

the missus is on the 3rd book, i've got no issue as when shes reading it shes quite. then the other day she started giving me a Southbank style revue saying that it wasn't all about sex and is is a good story with sub plots.

Unfortunately I was driving at the time and nearly crashed through

    a - boredom

b - losing the will to live

Which completes my expensive porn analogy.
