Five January deals and now City eye loan window

bcfc.co.uk: “It was a frustrating day as we were just unable to get deals done for the players we wanted, but I can assure fans it wasn’t for the want of trying.

“We’ve managed to secure five deals during the window, and we’ll continue to work hard when the loan window reopens to strengthen us further.”

    City’s January deals in focus

    RICHARD O’DONNELL

Signed from: Wigan Athletic, undisclosed fee, two-and-a-half-year deal.

Former Sheffield Wednesday and Walsall goalkeeper, who initially arrived on loan before turning his deal permanent on deadline day.

With Frank Fielding sidelined through injury, the 27-year-old has made four appearances for City to date. He’s already a big hit with supporters following his passionate jump-into-the-crowd celebration against Middlesbrough.

John Pemberton said: “He was someone we had been monitoring and tracking for a little while. To have him signed permanently now is fantastic.”

    SCOTT GOLBOURNE

Signed from: Wolves, undisclosed fee, two-and-a-half year deal.

Defender who originally came through City’s Academy and made 15 appearances for the club before moving to Reading.

The left-back earned his stripes at Exeter City, Barnsley and Wolves before returning after a ten-year absence. He immediately declared that he felt he had "unfinished business" at Ashton Gate.

John Pemberton said: “Scott has been here before, he’s athletic and someone we need for this football club.”

    ALEX PEARCE

Signed from: Derby County, on loan until the end of the season.

Republic of Ireland international defender who harbours hopes of playing for his country at Euro 2016.

A product of Reading’s Academy, he moved to Derby in the summer but has found opportunities few and far between due to their ongoing promotion push.

John Pemberton said: “Alex will offer us experience; he knows this division inside out. He’s a good lad and a leader.”

    BEN GLADWIN

Signed from: QPR, on loan for 93 days.

Midfielder who was a shining light for Swindon Town last season, prompting QPR to come calling for his services.

He returned to the County Ground on loan earlier in the campaign but is now looking to make his mark in the Championship with City for the remainder of this campaign. He’s available for all of the remaining games, bar the final day fixture at his parent club.

John Pemberton said: “He’s a good ball carrier, can go past people and he’s versatile.”

    LEE TOMLIN

Signed from: AFC Bournemouth, on loan until the end of the season.

Exciting attacker, aged 27, who began the season playing regular Premier League football for the Cherries. A former Peterborough United and Middlesbrough forward, who can operate in a variety of positions.

John Pemberton said: “He wants to play football and he’ll bring us ability and experience.”

I watched City play at the Valley many times during my courting days in SE London and wish I could be there on Saturday to cheer the boys on again. If ever there was a crucial game, then this would be it.

We MUST start beating the teams around us - or we will stay in the mire - and deservedly so.

This season our record in '6 pointers' has been awful, so forgive me if I don't hold out much hope!!
