Although our recent form has been slightly worrying, we're currently being let off by Burton, Walsall & Coventry also all throwing away points at the moment so I won't dwell on that too much, however our away form is more cause for concern. We play a good diamond formation which up until recently has worked very well and often, but it seems recently we are struggling to grind out results as more teams are able to break us down ie Wigan & Oldham etc. Now we seemed to be more effective when we reverted to the 3-5-2 system on Saturday and possibly should have warranted a draw. Now I appreciate that this is reliant on the fitness of Jackson and our CB's staying fit, but if teams are setting up to play against a diamond, this system could act as the perfect foil for some opponents game plans. They probably assume that we would only set up as a diamond and as a result, plan their team for that so this could work to our advantage. I still think Garmston & Jackson are at their best in that wing back role and this probably allows their most freedom. Chicksen's style means this probably wouldn't work for him but for me he's not offered an awful since he's joined anyway and I would happily send him back. There is an argument for where is the 3rd CB coming from? Well personally I would want to see Mitchell Dickenson in that role. "A youngster given first team football when we're chasing promotion you say? Not what we need at all". Although there is an argument for the lack of experience, he has played a lot of men's football this year and alongside Ehmer & El-Abd, he should have enough experienced heads there to help coach him through the experiences and teach him. Anyways those are my thoughts, what are yours?
Our form has been getting worse progressively all season, after 1st 11 games...........21 points, 1.91 points per game. after 22 games.................41 points, 1.86 points per game. after 33 games.................58 points, 1.76 points per game. I agree we looked better on Saturday with the 3 - 5 - 2 system, and think trying Mitchell is a good idea. As for him being too young for a promotion pushing side I would suggest talking to Man-U.
hmmm not sure PegLeg, from what i've read regarding El-Abd and I don't pretend to be any tactician but this formation may well not suit him, you'd need to speak to BC fans for more reasoning behind that.
Fleetwood, 10 minutes in and 10 - 0 - 0 might be be needed to preserve our diminishing goal difference.
I would have suggested him playing in the middle of the 3 so he would have less leg work than the faster Ehmer & Morris/Dickenson but it doesn't look like we're going down that formation option sadly.
