GET IN ! Really happy with that.

What a start Mick has made point wise!

    10/18, 3 wins in 6. 7 / 9 at home ! Fantastic !!!

ONLY down side is we've been THUMPED in the 2 losses ha

How did we perform tonight? Great to see Hyam score! How was Barnett?

I can't see anything to fear at the Reebok Saturday. I'm in Madrid, going to Getafe v Malaga, then Real v Atletico so I will try to find out the result! Already bet £2.50 on over 4.5 goals at Real / Ipswich win double to return £45 :) COME ON YOU BLUUUEEEESSS !

Some of that defending must have looked painfully familiar?

Did anyone go to the game? If so, was it as comfortable as the scoreline suggests?

Wow! What an absolute corker from Hyam. When you hear it on the radio you think he's followed in to put it into an empty net with the keeper already down but he had so much to do.

The other goals, and in fact the penalty too, are beyond bizarre, but it's just what we needed. This goes back to what I've been saying for years, many of Keane's games the performances were there but the putting the ball in the net, the rub of the green, was not on our side and that actually comes from positive energy. Mick McCarthy has brought with him a lot of positive energy. We are still not safe but hope is rekindled. Hopefully we can now start to make up some ground and pull away.

Thai, it was comfortable and I was suprised how poor Forest were. The 3 goals we scored were all gifts but the workrate and harrying from us put them under pressure so fair play to the lads. MM obviously gave them a good kick after Saturday because we showed more life and spirit in the first 5 minutes then we did in 90 minutes against the Posh.
Our style of play was either hopeful hoofball or controlled long balls to a dangerous spot just the penalty box, depending on how harsh you want to be. I think with the slippery conditions we were trying to play it over the defenders heads which would make then have to turn and face their own goal and it certainly worked. Not the kind of display that would make you get enthralled by the technical ability but its 3 points and we have shown that we cant make life difficult for other teams which is something we havent done for a number of seasons now. Now all we have to do it turn it into a run of unbeaten games to get some true belief back.

I may have to disagree with you there Tractor Bhoy. I thought Forest looked dangerous. That might be because our defence has been so leaky recently, but Forest were making attacking moves all game. The difference for me was that our defence held shape and backed the keeper. In fact when Forest scored, our defenders all stopped and looked like obstacles, but that only happened once.

I wonder what would have happened if W'urso had called in sick yesterday. With 11 v 10, I think we could have made a real dent in that goal difference!

Hawkins, I would agree that Forest made attacking moves all game but they didnt really get into areas that caused us major issues. They liked keeping it wide with their wingers and getting down the byline but for me didnt attack the box well enough. The balls came in but Sharp isnt going to score many with his head from those deliveries and other than him I dont think they really got bodies into the box. Their goal made me worried because it was one of the few times they got a bit of space to show of their technical passing ability and it made us look like idiots.
From where I sit (churchmans upper) I didnt think it was a sending off. It looked like our first touch was heavy and the ball was going away from goal and out towards the edge of the pitch so not a clear goalscoring opportunity. It also seemed our penalty was a bit fortunate although that was at the other end of the pitch so not the best view but it looked like he stumbled on a slippery surface rather than was forced down by a Forest player. I may be wrong on both counts. I havent seen replays so they are both based on my gut instinct at the time.

I know it's not directly involved with this thread but......

It's strange how quiet this board is after we win. After we lose a game, at least 1/2 a dozen threads are started. I've just logged in to the site for the 1st time today & there are only 2 active threads

Is this because certain "fans" would rather us lose??
I have to admit, I was apprehensive before last nights game & certainly didn't expect a 3-1 win but, in this situation, I am delighted to be proved wrong

Royston, wouldnt say its that certain people want the team to lose. I would say you have more to moan/ chat/ discuss though and more differing pov's on how to change things. when things are not going your way there will be a large range of how to fix it views. If you win you can only really discuss dodgy decisions or the style of play and its harder to say 'I would have changed that'

Agree with what TB said about less posts after a win. People are enjoying themselves and don't feel the need to vent their spleen so much.
With regards to Lee Camp, I'm glad he stayed on the pitch in the end otherwise the result could have been different. Of course I didn't think that at the time though.

Indeed Thai it is so nice to see the shoe on the other foot in terms of defending, Nottingham Forrest had a bit of a defensive nightmare, any coincidence they had 2 former ITFC players in their back line??

Lancs did you mean Keane or PJ?? Because I really remember very few good performances under Keane, infact not even 1 sticks out!!!

Not the ideal football I like to see but we need points to make sure that we are in this division next season and I'm fed up of seeing us loosing, proper championship match I geuss!!!

O/T Sorry but what realy annoys me is how people spell Forest like Forrest! Surely it's not that hard a word to spell is it? It's like when some people spell Ipswich like Ipswitch! <grr>

Both Keane and PJ. Actually we had lots of good performances under Keane. I remember playing Swansea off the park for sixty minutes at Portman Road the year they were promoted but things didn't go our way and we ended up losing.

From what I saw, I have to disagree with you there. I can only think of 4 games that I was moderately entertained in his entire tenure!! And I think under him we dominated teams far less than any other manager but this is going completely off topic. I geuss you could say both PJ and Keane were unlucky but at the same time I think perhaps their tactics made us unlucky, in Keanes case being overly negative and inviting pressure and probably in Jewells case probably the opposite and being a bit gung ho to get a goal and not keeping tight at the back!!
