With only 45 minutes left of our season, what are people's expectations for the next campaign? Play offs? Auto promotion? Will McCarthy still be in place? What are people's feelings?
If MM is in charge still, please god no, then mid table at best. Same old, hard to beat but dull as ****, stuff!!
But hey, chins up (that was for the chubby ones amongst us) it could be worse, just look at poor Pompy!! Saying that, i bet Pompy are more adventurous than us!!
Next season? Disappointment in the playoffs - losing to Fulham as they, Cardiff and Sunderland go straight back up.
It didn't happen this season Weighty. We've done alright but I think we could have got more out of this season if we had a bit more aim and direction for the longer term.
If our seasons ends with us a gnat's crotchet off the playoffs, that's fine by me - signifies progress and lays to rest the ghost of Keane. Squeaking into the playoffs would be nice but I wouldn't consider it a 'must-do'; that we are even having this discussion is wonderful after the last few years.
I think progress has happened this season and this season is not over yet( although you threw the towel in in October ). To be in with a shot at the play offs half way through March is a bloody great improvement in my opinion.
We will NEVER go up under MM but will NEVER go down under MM, me personally i like a bit of a thrill rather than pure dull boring ****!!!
Weighty Maybe thats becsuse Hampy is a realist unlike certain fantasists on here, it was NEVER gonna happen, wr are nowhere near good enough to go up, not even close!!!
No most on here have a realistic view point on things, it could easily have turned out differently one way or the other that my friend is football, to say NEVER does seem a tad naive to me. We are the ninth best team in the league ATM so a little more progress and we should be play off contenders in the near future, but while there is breath left in this season we should still go for it.
In answer to the OP we have improved a hell of a lot this year and with one or two shrewd additions in the Summer I see no reason at all why we should mount a serious promotion challenge next season! I think we will come up short this year but it has been a very good season overall bearing in mind that Mick has had nothing to spend on players! Evans must back Mick with some funds in the Summer.
Ninth best team atm, we will not make top ten, i think we are way off!! We can only improve, as long as MM looks at signing more than def midfielders.
