This is exceptional form Mick and I have no doubt the winner will endorse it further although I am unconvinced he will confirm form with Kingman. I think it's reasonable to expect further endorsement of the form from Toormore (Hannon's first string in the Guineas) as he had already beat The Graet Gatsby in the Craven quite comfortably. I wonder if we have a sprinter among them as if so we could have participants in this early season classic mopping up group 1's at 6f - 14f (I think Kingston Hill will take the Ledger as clearly a stayer and likely his favoured ground in September, also unlikely to better Australia in top 12f races).
Given Austrailia was on the wrong side in the Guineas I'd be confident he'd take care of Kingman over a mile if they met again. Cantered around to win the Derby yesterday. As Mick say's though the form of that Guineas is excellent
For me the jury is still out on the 2000 Guineas. It looks like it was an above-average renewal because of the exploits of various runners since. We will not really know whether they are really good or not until they start meeting their elders. The St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot could make or break the theory amongst the three year olds. If the ground turns out to be fast, Kingman may give it a miss and we will be left waiting for the rematch with his Newmarket conqueror Night Of Thunder. If the pair of them show up and neither win, that throws the whole theory out the window. I do not think that Australia will ever race against Kingman again as John Gosden’s colt is clearly a miler and will not step up to ten furlongs whilst the Derby winner will not drop back to a mile.
I think these 3 year olds look a top bunch. Kingman looks a miler above the norm and Australia's a special animal whose going to be hard to beat over any distance from 8f - 12f but time will tell, if and when, this pair step against their elders.
