Arsenal were top of the league following a victory over Fulham. The squad was as follow: Szczesney, Fabianski, Almunia, Sagna, Eboue, Koscielny, Djourou, Squillaci, Vermaelen, Clichy, Gibbs, Song, Denilson, Diaby, Wilshere, Fabregas, Nasri, Rosicky, Ramsey, Arshavin, Walcott, Van Persie, Chamakh, Bendtner, Vela Those in Bold have left, those in Italics haven't played in the Premiership this season. That's a HUGE turnover of players. 10 players have left from the first team in the last 2 years. 4 haven't played yet in the Premiership this season. That's 14 / 25 players have either left or not featured. No wonder Arsenal lack cohesion. This is ridiculous.
I always thought THAT squad was lacking, and in need of strengthening to push-on. Although we were hovering around the top and in the later stages of cups, we lacked that dogged never say die mentality neede to get over the line. We have seriously gone backwards since then.
Same thing for Manchester United: van der Sar, Neville, Evra, Hargreaves, Ferdinand, Brown, Owen, Anderson, Berbatov, Rooney, Giggs, Smalling, Park, Hernandez, Vidic, Carrick, Nani, Scholes, Welbeck, Fabio, Rafael, O'Shea, Evans, Fletcher, Valencia, Obertan, Macheda, Gibson, Kuszczak. Similar story. What's your point?
tbh only first team players at that side are: VDS Berba demoted that year behind chicha, Neville struggled and Rafeal was ahead of him rest were team rotation/backup players so although number wise your argument is correct, but not quality wise, as UTD didn't sell any of our regulars and VDS gone bcz he needed to retire and berba bcz he was 5th choice .. bottom line , we don't sell our best players you lost, key first team players: Nasiri, cesc, Song, clichy, RVP .. compared to VDS in UTD case
The huge difference between the two teams is Fergie. Even now, both teams are very comparable. The only thing that gives Man U the edge in terms of squads is RVP, other than him, Arsenal have as much quality. The main problem with Arsenal is that we continually lose our players, and not only lose players, but a lot of key players as well as the good ones. Man U lose very few key players and get rid of the ones that Fergie doesn't want. So even though Arsenal appear to be financially stable, we are very unstable as a team.
Man United strikers - RVP, Rooney, Hernandez, Welbeck Arsenal - Podolski, Giroud, Walcott, Gervinho Man United have the better strike force, but ours isn't too bad either. Apart from Gervinho, the other 3 are very good strikers. Goals scored: RVP - 13 Hernandez - 9 Rooney - 5 Total: 27 Walcott - 10 Giroud - 7 Podolski -7 Total: 24
you need to count the league goals & assist man when you face same quality of sides not some mickey mouse cups games Arsenal Walcott - 4-4 Gervinho 3-0 Giroud - 4-1 Podolski -4-3 ------------------------------------- Arsenal total: G: 11 A:8 UTD: RVP - 10-4 Hernandez - 5-1 Rooney - 4-7 Welbeck - 1-2 ------------------------------------- UTD total: G: 20 A:14 is almost the double of difference, and that is why we are in top beside our players like Welbeck, Rooney do defend and help out alot which inject more balance in the side and you actually used Walcott who play at wing.. so not really a striker
I've said it before that when you look at United they aren't full of superstars, and a lot of the players that leave go into the obscurity realm of the likes of SUnderland. The likes of Carrick, Fletcher, ANderson, are not world beaters, and if we had signed them we wouldn't exactly jump for joy, yet under Fergie, at United they brilliantly effective, and can crop up as match winners in a squad that is full to the brim with winners. This is the real genius of SAF - building such a formidable legacy without always having the best players (in all positions).
