Well today was a tale of two halves, first half thought we bossed Brum, but just do not have a striker on the pitch worthy of the name. Kojak missed two golden chances once again. Second half thought we were okay until Pembo made the changes, then it all went pear shaped. Thought Pembo got his subs all wrong,Taken off what is clearly a player of class in Tomlin. Personally thought he ran the show for us,more to come lovely jubbly. I would have removed Reid and brought Gladwin on,Removed Freeman who was knackered, and Kojak off,and brought Wilbs and Agard on. Personally thought Burns was a car crash from the time he came on. We need a goal scorer and quickly, if we are to remove ourselves from the bottom three. I still think Kojak would be a better bet as a winger, than a striker. He is not clinical in front of goal. Regards Pembo my take is this would be a wrong option,we have been told by puppett Ashton, you will be suprised by the high quality of applicant, well lets employ one of them, simply Pembo would be the same scenario of Tinnion and Millen, and we all know where that led us. We have shored up at the back by playing four across the back,we could all see this months ago ,however it is the same as under SC pretty football, but no end product. The club should name the new manager,or if they are going with Pembo we should be told,at least we all know where where the club is heading. Today we were on the ropes for the last 25 minutes caused by Pembos substitutions. Over to you guys,do we change or keep the current manager.
Our strikers aren't underperforming in terms of goals. When you play 5 in Midfield you need goals to xome feom there. The midfield have scored bugger all this seaaon and thats the problem
Tomlin was knackered he not played many games so had to come off wes shoulda been on left and kept Freeman right to cut in agard should have prob been first sub then Wilbs then gladwin but that's hindsight
Freeman has only got one foot,Pack I thought played well and so did Smith. Tomlin looked good as did Golbourne. Kodija needs dropping. Played awful and his body language looks like he is jaded to me. 2 goals in 15 games and one of those was in the cup. We need a better return than that if we are to stay up.
MTG, you may well have a better handle on this than me as I do not get to see the games, however I read every report and watch all the highlights, and the truth is Kodija clearly needs 5 or 6 efforts for every goal he scores. I have lost count of the amount of games, including today's where I have read that he has spurned great chances., and it is really costing us, so I think our Strikers are underperforming. Jimmy had a great start and raced to 8 goals, but since Nov he has missed sitter after sitter. It's all well and good to bemoan every keeper has their best game against us, but he has to be more clinical, I take the chance against Cardiff as a case in point, he was 8 yards out with a perfect cross from Elliott and had a free header, yes Marshall made a great save, but in truth Jimmy should have buried that. This type of thing seems to be characterising his season at the moment. We need a new striker to provide options, we have now stocked up in Mid & Def, but are still very deficient up front.
You are correct with Kodjia, he's not clinical in front of goal, he'd have 7/8 chances in games and not score, didn't play that well today either, I'd rather we had 2 upfront instead of 1 to be honest
We just aren't gelling and the results are the sad end result and until such time as we get in a clinical striker to assist Kodjia we are in trouble. Only a day or so left until the window closes and I can't see the signs of us bringing in the players needed to boost our confidence, and in all honesty I have no idea where we are looking to find them. It's was always going to be a difficult transition for us, and nobody expected us to challenge, but surely we could have done better to survive.
The arrival of a few new players always takes time to bear fruit... Which is why it would have been advisable to do the business in early Jan, but that's another story. The fact is it's another game gone, another without scoring, and the season is approaching being 2/3ds over. Charlton scoring 4 goals away shows what the arrival of a new (proper) Manager might achieve. C'mon Board FFS let's see a proper appointment.
With Charlton and MK Dons away in the next three games our future will be much clearer in a month. Defence is now much better but you win games by scoring them. Just hope we don't hit Charlton an the crest of a revival
Tomlin could be the answer but I cant see the need for Freeman as well. Freeman is far too one footed at this level to be out on the right. Smith and Pack both played well without being creative, so we do need Tomlin. Reid was also ok. Personally, I think we need better options up front. Kodija is woefully out of form and frankly, yesterday, appeared uninterested. Had a few half chances but none dispatched. We looked better at the end with Wilbs and Agard, a combination that finished last season. Shame Wilbs cant do it for 90 minutes, but that observation alone tells me that we haven't really progressed much in that area.
Woefully poor upfront, hence the need for two replacement strikers. Until they rectify it,we are always going to struggle goals wise and relagation looks a real possibility unless they can sort it.
Yes, great that the defence has tightened, but if we draw the rest of our games 0-0 even, we finish on 42 points.
Which strikers would you go for the club can't say who we are going for as would have the fa knocking at the door Praising Charlton getting 4 they lost 6-0 inn the managers first game so not always best to get someone in
What have you seen of Bradshaw to convince you he's the answer? Bearing in mind if he played against us at home of at Wembley last season he was invisible. Just interested are you basing it on wiki or on actually watching him? Because you run Kodjia down for missing chances but his wiki stats are good.
Bradshaw is a natural goal scorer and him alongside Smith would be a great foyle, with Tomlin playing behind them. Think that would keep us up.
Smith and Kodjia would be a real handful together Could play a diamond behind with Tomlin at it's point
You are still not answering the question Have you watched Walsall to see him live and can confirm that he us a natural goal scorer and can do it in this league? Or are you basing it on what you've read? Doyle for Chesterfield beginning last season tore division one apart, went to Cardiff in the championship and struggled, I work in Cardiff with season ticket holders not one I have spoken to rates him. Now loaned out to Preston this season scoring record is 2 in 16. But unless you've actually seen these players then you're talking paper talk.
