There is a minority who say they are in favour of the name change. They is a minority actively opposing the name change and a large group in the middle. The campaign is aimed at persuading those in the middle to do a little more to oppose the change. The chant at a specified time is our way of showing what the name of the club means to us. Nothing more, nothing less.
My problem with all this is that we are owned by a business man, who does not actually follow football. He gave us this club as a gift, but we consistently get people phoning in, or posting saying he has given us nothing. 'Its a loan.' If I was in his position, I would say - 'Why am I putting myself through all this' All I need to do is recall 'the loan' using the Premier League money. Then retire quietly to Melton. Our club would be a model to all the other clubs in the the Premier League, a club who has actually paid back its debts and loans. It will probably bankrupt the club, but what the hell, it'll be peaceful in Melton and he wouldn't need to come into Hull to watch football.
I know you're having difficulty understanding this, but the club doesn't have enough money to repay the loan and unless we continue to be successful, it never will have. The only person who would lose out of Assem called in an unpayable loan and put us in admin, is Assem and he's not going to do that. What sort of ****wit would put a company in admin, when it's only creditor is himself? Assem is earning over £2m a year in interest, if he ever wants to get his equity back out, then he needs sustained success over many seasons and that's exactly what he wants. He's judged this one badly and if he has any sense, he'll bin it shortly, but there's zero chance of him busting his own company in a sulk, money is far too important to him.
At the end of the season the club gets how much for, worst case scenario, finishing last? Would that be enough for the club to settle its loan? Then retire quietly in Melton and maybe build a squash club.
The money we get from the Premier League has already been spent on fees and wages, in fact, we've committed to more spending than we receive this year. The loan can't be called in, it's a complete non issue.
Good attendance today, 24,396 including 2530 Villa fans, plus one huge damp squid that appeared briefly at 1904. Every time I'm on here I come across a passions against the name change to Hull City Tigers. I have yet to see it manifested to a fraction of that passion at the KC. Another sorry pathetic display.
My one issue with this is people sung at 19 minutes into the game brilliantly, why did everyone then refuse to sing for the rest of the game? I am opposed to the name change but the atmosphere was shocking, if those who are opposed to it support our great club that much why the shocking atmosphere? Support the club for 90 minutes not just for one minute, would also say the support during that minute was pretty average. But i did get offered a fair few flyers and a badge and i thought they where good and the leaflet was brilliant at explaining the cause etc....

Nice guy in e2 making it very clear to some lads before the match that he expected them to sing the protest song.Old enough to be their dad.Actually quite intimidating-lovely!
There are people who are trying to defend what they believe in There are detractors who are keen to sling mud at those who care Your comments appear worthless & disrespectful to me. You seem to be of the folded-arms, "told you so" sneer-monger archetype. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Stood up in S4 at 19.04 sang and clapped......Me and 5 or 6 others. Very sorry display of passion so I sat down. BTW the atmosphere all game was crap. The Villa outsung us no problem.
IN e2 it seemed good atmosphere.Villa very loud and up for it as were e1,2 and 3.I actually thought it could kick off with the usual "kick out Hull fans whilst not kick out away fans for same behaviour"routine.I think the coppers felt like wise but doubt they will ever change tactics. Funny how insecure types need to resist change at every step.
The Villa support was excellent but then again our away support is too. Its generally a group of like minded people at away games all sat together in one little area that creates that kind of atmosphere. I thought it was the worst atmosphere of the season today. Singing of "City" actually got better in the 2nd half. I am in East stand near the mid line and not many people joined in. In the 2nd half I saw a bit of movement in South Stand but facing West Stand I took particular notice today and I don't think I saw anyone sing clap or anything. Unfortunately I think the Hull people are just not big protestors. I think a lot of people don't like the name change and support the people trying to do something about it but are just naturally not very vocal. It always seems as well because Allam is sitting there even though we don't like what he is trying to do with the name change its kind of not nice protesting if you see what I mean.
The problem with using singing as a vehicle for protest is that hardly one sings outside the East Stand. Even if fans in other areas wanted to join the protest they wouldn't if everyone around them was sat in silence. A protest that requires no singing will be much more successful and have more participation, eg clapping or something similar . For example, I can't imagine anyone in the West Stand singing 'City 'til I die' even if they're 100% against the name change but they would be likely to join in as a protest as mentioned above.
