    I doubt he's duped.

What else do you expect him to say?

That puts me in mind of what we did to Liam Cooper at Anfield. Chelsea are desperate to finish at least runners up so Tymon was always going to get torn a new one there.

    Think you're right Ernie.

Whereas the loveable Russian puppy was clearly shown to be out of his depth, and ill prepared to deal with devious duo, I'm sure Adkins was well aware of what he was letting himself in for when he joined City, and will draw on his experiences at Southampton and Reading when playing football poker with the two silly twats in charge.

Telling comment from him was 'and the players might not want to come anyway'.

If we're looking for players in the last few days of the window it will be amongst the desperates, the has beens, the not so have beens and the sick notes. Not quite bargain basement, more past their sell by dates.

Although the above appears depressing reading at first, at least it does confirm that Adkins hasn't actually been duped, my guess is that this is not a surprise for him and that he'd taken the job on the knowledge that he'd have to work on a shoestring budget. Nigel Pearson managed this and the Allams are trying this tack again although the overriding circumstances are that the Allams have no further ambition at the club

So to summarize, Adkins' remit is "Chin up, keep us up, sell up"

Cross fingers it will work out

I expect him to say the owner is a **** but I accepted to work with the situation.

Tymon would have been ok at second tier level for us, but stingy Ehab meant it wasn't going to happen whatever.

..I'm not sure what the policy is here now on having separate threads on transfer speculation.

Nigel Pearson didn't have to work on a shoestring under the Allams. In the championship at the time we definitely had one of the bigger budgets. Remember this was a time when £3m for a young 30 goal a season striker from league one seemed an extortionate amount. Man Utd's very promising young reserve captain cost just £300k and a good age goal scoring Matty Fryatt cost just £1.2m.

Each of those fees are likely to be 10x the cost in today's market. How much would any striker with Fryatts at-the-time championship goal return cost nowadays? I'd be surprised if you got any change from £10m.

Adkins has come here because he was desperate for work and therefore took ehat he could with whatever restrictions came with it. The positive for us is that he will have us fitter and better drilled then slut ever did or would, the negative is we have a complete yes man in charge who won't challenge or push the owners. Expect the loan slots to be filled and myb 1/2m Max to be spent

Expect the worse and be surprised with anything better

Nige is not an idiot, nor was he duped when he came here. He wanted a job again and in my opinion he is quite good at a lot of things. He brings a positive approach and this was essential to us at this time. The players will be fitter and more organised and we can already see this. I think he has been pretty unlucky in the last few games. Our finishing has been bad, at times Sunday league or worse but we can’t dwell on this. Will players come I don’t know. They know the situation regarding the owners, there is real uncertainty over the future and to be honest the owners are probably seen as real twats for the way players have been dealt with. Realistically I think they will sell whoever they can for as much as they can and hopefully pocket the most cash they can and do one. That’s about all we can hope for.

    Agreed.

I imagine the budget we have now is still way in advance of what he could ever dream of at scunny.
I reckon our back up keeper is on more than all the Bristol city players.
I think nige really needs to show us how good he is and buy a couple of div 2 rough diamonds that he can improve.

Meylers tweet was right he won't be getting a new deal, unless he's willing to take a big pay cut. Same with daws and greegsy.

The Allams are taking back what they're owed and making the club self sufficient, so it'll be produce our own or free agents or speculative lower league buys.

This is reality Chaz for clubs when there is no one to just pump in vast sums. If the the owners are not interested or can’t afford it any more so be it. Let them get their money and do one. The sooner the better. The mistake the Allams made was coming out with loads of bullshit and reasons that mask the real reason they want out. They want their money back I get it, the rest of their ****e is just plain arse.

Regarding Nige being duped you're probably right, think he's far too intelligent to be duped by the child.
In my defence, my original post was just after 5am after being on beer and JD chasers all night.

How's your head pal? Mrs. LBIA drank two and a half bottles of red t'other night, next day she'd apparently come down with a heavy cold that was making her ache all over <laugh>
