Watched a YouTube clip of Robert's goals the other day and I long for the day that we have another set piece specialist as good as him.

Ben Arfa has more ability but Robert was a bit more consistent so I'd opt for him.

Ben Arfa's probably more talented but he doesn't come close to what Robert did in a Newcastle shirt.

Robert was a genius with arguably the most gifted left foot I've ever seen (although I myself am one, gotta give it to him)

    HBA doesn't come close.

Ability wise HBA. However if you were offered me both and I could only take one, I'd take Robert. Delivered on a consistent basis.

I think HBA and Shola would not be happy that Robert is placed above them in the lazy stakes. He was a lazy bastard though. HBA is one lazy bastard too though. The difference between the two is the number of assists Robert provided. I'd imagine their goal records are not all that different. Both with the ability to score wonderous goals. Robert set up a lot of goals, HBA doesn't really pass..............................

Robert played in a much better team. Also the wing isn't HBAs strongest position. As far as ability goes it's not even close. HBA would have been fantastic in a Sir Bobby side. Pardew hasn't a clue how to utilise him

To be fair we've tried to utilise him every which way you can. The problem isn't the manager, the system, the teammates etc, its HBA himself. He just doesn't produce with any regularity and more than anything, struggles to be a team player. Even the best individual talents in the world integrate into the team. They perform their function for the team. HBA doesn't do this. The only way you can get away with retaining that much of the ball yourself is if you are Ronaldo and score as many goals as games.

I see HBA as an impact sub now and think our recent upturn in form when removed from the team, Debuchy's emergence as a result, is proof enough that it is HBA who needs to adapt, not the manager or the team. HBA has more natural ability, but Robert was also an extremely talent individual. I'd say it is close to be honest. Ability will only ever take you so far in football, at some point you have to turn that ability into some tangible for the team. HBA has played wing, number 10, deeper, false striker, the lot.

I don't think HBA would have got a game unde Sir Bobby. He was very strict about the team coming first. Dyer and Viana found that out. He liked technical players and was willing to accept their weaknesses as long as it worked for the team.
