Van Persie looked a bit lost without the supply and movement from Nasri and Fabregas. Them being missing meant our defenders could concentrate more on him without worrying about Cesc and Nasri.

I tink the tempo was down because it was the 1st game..even the commentators said teams don't usually wake up until the 4th/5th game...the defence was good...Song & Barton are LUCKY boys...we shot from distance more
all in all it was a decent game and I think a draw was fair

I think we'll step it up v. Scouserpool

Positive: We defended reasonably well. Our best players were Vermaelen and Koscielny.

Negative: Attack was awful, no creativity, hardly a chance of note created. When ManU and Chelsea or City get a result like that, it's a called grinding out a result. When Arsenal get a result like that, it's a bore draw.

Overall: Happy with the point. Would have preferred the win but would have taken a point at the start of the night.

Just remember this; United and Chelsea drew away to Newcastle last season. It was one of the tougher games to get at the start of the season and not everyone is used to eachother, plus with everyone missing - Nasri, Cesc, Jack. The game could've gone alot worse.
The only bad thing to come out of this is losing Gervinho for important games.

I'd have been very happy with a draw before the match so am pretty content right now. We too looked ok at the back but offered nothing going forward, which is what most Newcastle fans expected.

Sorry mate, but Mick (site owner) doesn't take well to people advertising their site's on here. I'll leave the comment up, but just bear it in mind <ok>

  9. Bouyed by our defence but need to be sharper at the front end. Probably need to replace the creativity that is missing with the absence of our former captain. Perhaps Arsene is attending to that. If we fall short there we could come up short well before the end of the season. I'm aware this is only the start of the season and I'm sure the forwards will get their act together before long. However the transfer window ends in just over two weeks so any reinforcements will have to come pretty soon.
