I would have thought that £10 for adults was plenty................... Talktalk are offering all 8 Sky sports channels for £15 a month --- who thinks a pointless trip to Colchester is better value for money ?
.... and yet - the Millwall cup tickets are 'only' £10. What are Colchester trying to say ?? A pointless friendly is worth a 50% increase on the price of a pointless cup game with a Wembley final !
I agree with you. Money at these games, like most lower league games is not made on the gate, its made on the merchandise ie food, drink etc. If the gate price is too high, you don't sell the merchandise, or the people that do go will have less money in their pocket. Funny as it seems i expect some non league clubs, lower than National only survive on the burger and tea van. Millwall have it right, its about educating marketing, selling a league game too cheap (£5 a ticket) is an insult to ST's, selling a friendly too dear is bad marketing! If i go to a game, the money comes from my drinking and any food i buy, but hey mate, as the old story went if the barman can't see your £20 note waving about, then we take our drinking money elsewhere.
Good point and certainly makes me think, is it not financially viable now to even hold friendlies at home? As i alluded to in my previous comment, without giving gioblues words consideration, any profit dosent come from gate receipts, the dilemma of modern day wages and overheads such as the yellow jacket brigade as well has the up keep of the pitch....just a thought.
