http://www.kentonline.co.uk/medway/sport/gillingham-centerplate-court-scally-135767/ Given that the money from the sale of Dack was used to ' balance the books ' - let's hope that some of the 1.4 M will be used on players - rather than ' cooking the books. '
Can i just say, WELL DONE Paul Scally for bringing a disgusting nasty piece of work Company to book! I've read the judges comments and for a multimillion pound company their behaviour is tantamount to a bunch of despicable bullying crooks. They do business with some very large companies and i hope they loose future business over this. I've always expressed my strong thoughts on this company and the predecessor name, writing several complaints. It was no mean feat bringing this bunch to book, and Paul Scally deserves kudos of praise for doing so. My thoughts and words would be stronger but i'm remembering this is a family board.
Lets hope scally spends some money on players in january. It wont be a lot though as we are losing over half a million a season. As always has said Dack money was to cover this so half will be needed again for next season so 500k should be available for this and next season
What really annoys me is they could have busted our club over this, sadly supporters are a massive gullible market that get exploited as a captive market by these companies, they didn't even deliver on service let alone contract. These companies should stick to serving middle class marketed Premier Clubs, where they are happy to pay for ****e. The reason their profits dropped was because of the crap service they gave serving food i wouldn't give to my dog. At least things are starting to look positive for the Chairman now, wins this case and has put in a manager that has given us results, hopefully it will take the pressure off his health.
Well done Scally. I hope our debts to the 2 year season ticket holders and directors don't gobble it all up and a little can be used for players.
As mentioned in the comments below the article, this can be appealed. However I would think that any appeal is likely to be only of the amount of compensation ,and not the judgement, as reading the report they don't appear to have a leg to stand on. My own opinion is that they probably won't appeal, as this would only make sense if they could overturn the judgement as any reduction in the compensation payable would probably be less than the legal cost of the appeal, and as the article says, with the case having been found against them they will have to pay both their and our legal fees for the initial case. Another factor is that with Centreplate having recently been taken over, I would think that the new owners, on seeing the wording of the judgement, would just want to settle up and move on. An old business acquaintance once commented on the situation of taking legal action on a matter of principle, that principles are fine as long as you can afford them. In this case Scally's judgement has been proved right. I don't think there was ever any doubt that the case was sound, it was just a matter of whether the club had the finances strong enough to sustain the case. This year's accounts are going to make interesting reading, but don't hold your breath. The club usually waits until the last minute (or this year beyond the last minute) to lodge the accounts with Companies House within the stipulated deadline. For this years accounts that'll be the end of February 2019.
From what I've heard and read, not an awful lot will be made available for transfers. Most of the money will go to cover the general business costs and also to brb's favourite topic, costs for the "new stadium project".
Well the five year vision has long passed and we quite simply don't have the money. The money Centreplate are likely to give us would probably only be enough to lay the basic foundation, suppose we could go down and put a plaque on it 'Scally's dream' and send alwaysright along occasionally to give it a polish.
Polish !! - well, OK - after all, Mr.Scally has been extracting my 'polish' for many years............. brb - how about we start a thread - asking for suggestions for a 'name' for our new stadium. I'll start - - ' The White Elephant Arena.' I'd like my seat in the 'Flying Pig stand.'
Just had a thought on 'general business costs', and wonder how much of this windfall will go towards repaying the £1.8m that is owed to Three Directors (loan to buy back the ground), or the £433k that has been loaned to the club by Michael Anderson (amount due at 31/5/16 according to GFC accounts)... Cynicism aside, either of those would actually strengthen the balance sheet, which ultimately is no bad thing. Can hardly wait until February 2019 to find out
Well here is the answer lads...http://www.kentonline.co.uk/medway/sport/scally-praises-remarkable-lovell-135972/ Lovell has already been eyeing up new recruits for when the transfer window opens in January and when asked if there would be money for new players, the chairman said: “Of course, but we also have to finish The Factory off, finish the banqueting hall off, refurbish some of the kitchen equipment.
I also can't wait for February 2019 --- because THAT is when those bloody PPI adverts have to stop !! ( it'll be too late to claim after that time --- AAAARRRGGGHHHH - what have I done ? )
