    Bayern return leg and Prem

Difficult to decide at this juncture. Before the return leg, we have to play Villa at Home, and both Spurs and Everton. If we don't get at least 7 out of those 9 points, finishing 4th might be all but impossible. If things don't quickly improve, by the time we get to March 13th, it all might...

Arsenal vs Bayern Munich: Match Thread.

Well, it wasn't an awful performance from us, given the pitiful season we've had, but it was just so dispiriting. Bayern didn't even have to try hard - it was like a training game for them. We are just so far away from being competitive, it's hard to know where we can go from here.

At least we're only two down. If we do our typical trick of upping the performance in the second half, we might be able to get something to keep the tie alive. Wenger needs to be pro-active for once and change things around, though. We'll get nothing if we just continue reinforcing failure.

None of my business but . . .

Precisely. And when they went head-to-head, Mourinho out-managed Wenger. If Mourinho can't handle the pressure at Madrid, does anyone seriously think Wenger can? Real might have coveted Wenger half-a-decade ago, before the lack of trophies was considered much of an issue, but why would you...

None of my business but . . .

I'm not so sure that that would be the case. I'm sure that he would be offered the French national job and probably the likes of Shanghai Shenhua, Anzhi and other nouveau riche clubs in developing leagues would want him but the top clubs in the elite leagues of Europe? Top clubs want instant...

Arsenal vs Bayern Munich: Match Thread.

For all the talk that Bayern have a miserly defence, I notice they've conceded 7 goals in the group stages of the Champions League. That's only one fewer than us. Perhaps they are vulnerable, after all?

Well, that's a reflection of your world-view that Wenger is a helpless agent, subject to the whims of fate. I see no reason to think that's true. By his own admission, Wenger has few limits at Arsenal - he makes most of the financial decisions. We could spend more money, if Wenger wasn't so...

None of my business but . . .

This is what I don't get, all this talk of "be careful what you wish for". What Wenger will give us in the future is what he has given us for at least the past four seasons: a very real and measurable year-on-year decline. There is no rational reason to believe that Wenger will ever lead us back...

The Gooner calls for Wenger's departure

More like three improvements. (Top quality striker, reliable ball-winning midfielder and keeper good enough to keep Szczesny honest, at least.) Maybe Wenger needs to step back from having a hands-on role in coaching and delegate that area of the game to his staff? If you believe the rumours, at...

The same lies that we hear

Giroud's a reasonable player but I think he's a bit too little, too late. Had he been bought to supplement RvP, he would have been great but he's no replacement, I'm afraid.

The Gooner calls for Wenger's departure

Depends on how you define "instant success". For me, a successful replacement for Wenger would be a manager who was prepared to go back to basics; i.e., playing players in their strongest and most natural positions; teaching his players how to get the most (or even something!) from corners...

The Gooner calls for Wenger's departure

Why? If Wenger is not up to it and is going to leave in 2014, why not sack him now (or at the latest 20th May 2013) and get in his successor? You observe that Wenger is not the future of Arsenal FC. Therefore, why persist in letting Wenger continue with his unsatisfactory methodology, which...

How well will we do against Bayern?

I think it's a reasonable assumption, that if we get anything over the two legs it will be because Bayern bottle it. There's little evidence to suggest that this current Arsenal outfit have the calibre to be able to impose themselves on any type of opposition, not least one of the best drilled...
