Coronavirus: Please use this thread for all COVID19 talk!

I would observe that those who are at home have plenty of time to stand in queues. I still do a full time job, plus I'm looking after others in self-isolation. I don't want any special treatment, but just once in a while it would be nice if I didn't have to queue for 30 minutes or more. But...

    Saints Stuff

I think the only sensible solution is to plan for Season 20/21, and also hope that it's safe to start again in mid-August.

All my co-workers show their IDs and don't queue. I have been very reluctant to do so. So reluctant, I've not genned up on the rules in detail on this.

I'll pop this article here, on the ingestion of plastics, with no explanation. It's just information for you: https://www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/2019/06/you-eat-thousands-of-bits-of-plastic-every-year/ And while we're at it...

So much for being a key-worker in the medical supply industry. On Friday, I queued like everyone else, to go into a supermarket, having just left work only 20 minutes earlier. Then I realised I had my key-worker letter and company ID on me. So, for the first time ever, I went to a security guard...

Whilst in real life I have a horror of guns, I do have that Hollywood romanticised interest of anything a bit out of the ordinary. So when the film Quigley Down Under pops up on any available website I tend to be on it. A major feature of the story is a Sharps long distance rifle, which has been...

A news item out of the BBC archive from a couple of years ago has resurfaced. I remember reading it the first time, but reading it again still astonishes me. It's the story of a boy who grew up to be a teacher, and played the part for 17 years... and yet he couldn't read or write...

Indeed, I liked that too. However, I think we live in an era where people could be shown and even educated with the best information, and then almost completely ignore it. If anyone could convince me that the world's population would, en masse, truly change their behaviour over convenience, I...

And Michael Moore's backing, as producer, gave this documentary too much gravitas. About a quarter of it is accurate, but most of it is either wildly out of date by at least a decade, or misinformed. Anyway, Planet of the Humans:

I totally and utterly agree, and I have made the case to the production manager. He says he will talk to the catalyst and other increasing people concerned. In my opinion, although I like the guy's general everyday management style, he's weak in this situation.

Well, ****. That's a sweet, bittersweet hooray. The other day I bought a new drivebelt for my ancient Thorens TD160/GH228 turntable/pickup combo, as I'm going to find a way to press it into service. Cost £10.95 all the way from Germany [+£2.54 post], as it was a genuine replacement for Thorens...

    The General Football Thread

Dirty Leeds! Well actually, dirty Chelsea too: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52416192 One of the most watchable two games of my youth between two teams I didn't care about. But I had the slightest liking for Chelsea because they had one, Peter Osgood. And he became a footballing hero of...
