The 2013 summer transfer window HCDAJFU thread

Is it too late to go for Dejan Lovren... no-one else has called him yet, so I'm guessing he's still up for grabs! :P

    Relegated Players

Right people, we've now got the bottom 3 confirmed and I was wondering who, if anyone, you guys would like us to try and sign from the relegated teams? Personally I would quite like McManaman and Maloney from Wigan and possibly Karacan from Reading. Not interested in any QPR players myself...

    Poche's Reaction

Just been watching MotD and a comment was made along the lines of, as Saints fans do we want to see that kind of reaction from our manager. They said no we wouldn't - so I put it to you, do we? My opinion, while I liked the friendliness and attitude that Adkins brought to the club most the...

    Saints V City Ratings

Cork, Spiderman and Lambert were awesome (though with those three it's starting to become expected!), the three that I was impressed with though was JRod, Davis and Hooiveld. Think they have improved massively in the last month or two.

Article: Southampton v Manchester City match thread: | Southampton FC, Football

I have a nasty feeling that the ref is going to have an impact on this game... seems to be blowing his whistle constantly (except for the pen!) - I can see either a red card or pen (probably for City) at some point in the next half.

The Independent: "Saint or Sinner, Nicola Cortese keeps driving Southampton on"

A good read, and unusually a nicely balanced piece. The only part that I wasn't keen on was NC's vote against the financial restraints - personally I'm a fan of them and I thought the aim was to have us running in a financially stable way so wouldn't have thought it would have effected us much...

Is there a natural order in football and should we try to upset it?

Yeah I'd agree to a certain extent - in L1 we did spend more than other L1 teams - in Championship, I'd say we were about midtable in terms of spending that year, there were several teams (that were already established in the league) that spent more than us - in Prem, yes we have spent a lot of...

Is there a natural order in football and should we try to upset it?

No offense Jen, as you're not the only one to have said this, but it annoys me when people say that we have spent vastly more than others or generally loads of money. To me this is short sighted, as yes we may well have done this season, but taking into account the past couple of seasons then...

Good article on Pochettino, Lallana and Shaw

Good find on the article. Slightly off topic, but still about Pochettino (don't feel it's needs a whole new thread) - there has been lots of comments about he English, or rather lack of. Something I noticed during the Everton game was that he spent a decent amount of time in the technical area...

Article: Southampton v Chelsea, FA Cup 3rd Round : Match thread | Southampton, Football

This result was always bound to happen in reality - it's a shame we collapsed as we did after going a goal up, but Chelsea have the ability to do that to teams. Thought J-Rod, Boruc and Fonte played well, and Steeeeeeve was decent and full of effort when he came on though he does have a...

    Seats on the pitch

It wasn't too clear on the stream I was watching, but it looked like it was by the area where the Chelsea fans were sat.

Who needs Judy! It's the Punch show!!!!

One thing I've noticed is that his link up play with Clyne is brilliant, and that combination down the right is working so well and creating so many chances / goals.

    Champagne Cork

I think the reason for this is that we NEED him a lot more in the prem then we did before as we used to dominate possession more. He is definitely key to our season and needs to be kept fit. The other thing I have noticed is that his presences allows Morgan to push forward much more and help...

What a clever move from Chris Hughton!

Don't think it will affect his decisions. However, I do think it would be good if we in the stands showed him some support (maybe chanting his name or something) as he was so poorly treated through the situation.
