Match Day Thread Sheffield United vs QPR

Yes, you're right, faffing around at the back would flatter the passing accuracy percentage but, come on, 61% tells us a little bit more than we had a direct style of play. I watched the game and our passing (and ball control generally) left a lot to be desired; it was like pinball at times.

Match Day Thread Sheffield United vs QPR

According to the BBC stats, we had a passing accuracy of 61% today, meaning that almost every other pass missed its target. Not what you expect from professional footballers is it? (Sheffield United were 76%.)

I can't recall Stephan being that bold. Quite the opposite: generally too slow to make substitutions,

Match Day Thread QPR vs Southampton

What I found frustrating was that we kept banging in crosses and never got anywhere near them. Utter madness to carry on with the same old thing when it clearly wasn't working. Mix it up a bit, please! But that requires players who can pass and control short, sharp balls in and around the...

We tried hard not to win that one.

Match Day Thread QPR vs Millwall

I agree with almost all of that, except that I thought Smyth played really well and was very brave in the face of some ferocious (and foul) tackling. He, at least, had a good game today. Also, to be fair, RND is still looking like a good signing and Mbengue and Burrell improved things when they...

Match Day Thread Bristol City vs QPR

I was a harsh critic of Madsen. I was convinced that he was only picked based on orders from Nourry, the guilty party who had authorised his large transfer fee. Madsen was invisible in many games last season, didn't seem to work hard and was always hiding rather than looking to receive a pass...

    Transfer Rumours 2024/25

I know there are lies, damn lies and statistics... and despite my personal 2024/5 POTY rating of Koki Saito.... he only had 3 goals and 3 assists in 39 matches for QPR last season. Is that worth the rumoured £5 million transfer fee when we already have so many wide players and so many midgets in...

    Transfer Rumours 2024/25

In some ways, it's a great shame to miss out on Saito returning to Loftus Road. I really loved him when he played for us: his work rate, ability to beat a man, defensive capability and even his smile! I had him as my POTY last season. However, I was a bit surprised to see him linked with us...

    Transfer Rumours 2024/25

You may be right but I don't think that would be in his best interests. Who would want to be a genuine utility player? Being flexible and able to cover more than one position is useful to the club but I think it would be in his best career interests to at least specialise in one. What would you...

Match Day Thread QPR vs Preston

Oh no, Oslo: Begovic was truly awful and cost us a lot of goals (-7 if I recall the stats correctly). IMO, Nardi is good, not brilliant: he started last season really well but then seemed to go off the boil slightly. I think he's a better shot stopper than one who claims crosses into the box...

    Mark Lazarus

I guess the death of Mark Lazarus is buried (no pun intended) in the RIP thread but I think it deserves its own thread, if only to give an airing to the article below. Given his lower league career, I was surprised to find the Times today thought it appropriate to have an obituary for him. I...

Match Day Thread QPR v Brentford friendly 15:00 Loftus Road

Of course, Turkish, you're absolutely right, let's give it time. I'm normally a glass-half-full kind of guy as far as QPR are concerned and I think my match report (above) was fairly upbeat. But, let's be realistic for a moment: only one of those new players made it into the starting line up on...

Match Day Thread QPR v Brentford friendly 15:00 Loftus Road

I was at the match. The way Brentford started, even disregarding their 2nd minute goal, I thought we were going to get hammered. Gradually, however, we fought our way back into the game, without ever threatening Brentford's dominance. For example, I think our first shot on target didn't arrive...

    Transfer Rumours 2024/25

As much as I like Smyth for his work rate, pace and willingness to defend, there is unfortunately too little end product in terms of either assists or goals. It looks like Poku might provide more of that end product.
