Don't think Balo was a committee buy, he was the only striker of international quality that actually agreed to sign for us. Everyone else said no. Or at least that's what gerrard said in his new book, that it was a gamble that Rodgers agreed to and told him about.

I have a feeling a strong Europa showing might also be a big factor. If we do get top4 and were utterly hopeless in Europe, I think it might be a nail in the coffin. We need to be able to compete in the CL once we get there.
