    Remaining games

Given we've only a slim chance of finishing above Spurs this year (none?), can we please finish above Everton?

Match Day Thread Hapoel Be'er Sheeva vs Southampton 29/09/2016 Kick-off 6pm

Nah, it makes us positive and invincible. If a lower league side like Celtic can put 5 past them, we ought to aim for that and more. Hey, it's a league stage goal-difference might count!

Match Day Thread Hapoel Be'er Sheeva vs Southampton 29/09/2016 Kick-off 6pm

I was getting worried that this game might be a banana skin to slip up on. But, according to the Football Database (like FIFA rankings for clubs), we're the strongest team in the group by a long way: * Saints - 21st in Europe * Inter - 42nd * Sparta Prague - 47th * Hapoel Be'er - 111th For...

    The New Master Plan

Toby signs for Spurs - official.

Much as I'd like us to "retain" Toby, am I the only one who's worried that he seems a bit fragile? How many games was he out injured last season? Was this just due to missing pre-season? Is La Liga less stressful physically and hence fitness drops?

Schneiderlin signs for Man U - official

Maybe the injury is fortuitous for Saints, could it worry any potential purchasers (or their insurers) and make it more likely for us to keep Spider?

Southampton have most to fear from Dyke

I'm no lawyer, but it's not obvious to me how Dyke's home grown player definition "a player must have trained in the UK for three years" fits with EU law on the freedom of movement of workers. Can you imagine going for a job in France or Ireland and even though you were the best candidate being...

When is the best time to expand Saint Mary's?

In that Echo article it suggests expansion would cost circa £3k / seat, so whilst St Mary's isn't in the optimum location, I'd be very surprised if £30M was sufficient to finance a new 40-45k seater stadium elsewhere. I'd say go for expanding St Mary's, the costs of the new seats would be...
