Think your wide of the mark there. Steve Bruce is the guy who ultimately decides who gets kept on at under 21 level or beyond and who doesn't. He offers the contracts at the end of the day. The trouble is he doesn't really know the kids within Hull Academy system. You may argue, that's not his...
I won't hold my breath on anyone breaking through any time soon. I don't believe Steve Bruce has any real interest in the academy set up. Those he's allowed to leave this season seem to be proof of that, some talent let go there!
I believe there is another young defender better than Maguire on the ball, he just hasn't been given the opportunity yet. Harry was fortunate enough to have come from a club that was prepared to blood him at a young age.
Looks like Ben Clappison is making a positive impact on FC Halifax Towns results of late. Can only be a good thing for the young centreback. Seems quite adept yo turning his hand at fallback and now central defensive midfield.
Steve Bruce really should if he can consider recalling Ben Clappison and Will Aimson from their respective loans in order to provide much needed cover. Yes Huddleston might be a quality player, but in specialist position at centre half, does he have the required positional sense? I suspect not...
City are definitely producing young players that are good enough to be blooded properly in the first team, the problem is Bruce. Had Barmby remained in charge until now, I'm sure we would have certainly seen a couple of home grown lads from Hull establish themselves in team by now.
One for the future maybe. Pennock needed someone at centre half to cover those currently out on loan. Apart from Harvey Rodgers, very little else to select from. Good luck to the lad.
Bloody hell if Chester is a classy ball playing centre half, then young U21 centre half Clappison must be worth holding onto then, way more pace than Chester, taller and very comfortable on the ball with both feet.
Somebody asked the other day whether Maguire had stepped it up this season. Short answer is no. He just agile enough to deal with lively strikers ob the deck. Just istnt good IMO. Get well soon Michael.
