    Off Topic The Goodhand Arms

I got back a little while ago. Anything I say about the smallest part of the show would spoil it! Don't be tempted to read any reviews is my advice. Hope you enjoy as much as we did...

    The Football League Thread

He's a 19 year old defender, who can play right back or centre half (although Awford seems to prefer him playing full back at the moment). Not quite Hampshire born, but he's been at the club since he was a nipper. Went out to Aldershot on loan last season which seems to have toughened him up...

    Pompey v Cambridge

Awford remains unbeaten! Much better first home league game than last season!

    Scummers going down?

Not to be a pedant (on a football forum, surely not) but according to the been its 7 players in, 7 out. Appreciate 2 of those weren't exactly first choice, but both senior professionals. So point taken in that its a bigger pool of players, but suppose time will tell whether its not necessarily...

    Cobblers v Pompey

Phew. Still, 5 in a row! Great job AA.

Banner flying over Fratton Park right now..

It was indeed the Bristol Rovers match. In fairness, Bristol played their part bringing over 2,000 fans (almost selling out their allocation), but with the current health and safety restrictions (yes, I know the ground is falling apart) restricting capacity it was close to a sell-out.

    Cobblers v Pompey

What a fantastic start! On another note, I just left this on the "banner" discussion over on the Saints forum, but feel it's a shame not to mention it here. Sorry for the thumbnail, but I have neither the time nor inclination to work out to imbed larger images. What I did leave out of that...

Banner flying over Fratton Park right now..

Was very good of the company in question (Airads) to take some pictures of a full Fratton Park on the way over. Many thanks to the Saints fan(s) who made this possible by paying for the flight as it makes a great publicity shot.

    Cobblers v Pompey

Yes, he's been ruled out for the rest of the season I think.

    Cobblers v Pompey

Awford has definitely looked to freshen things up. Funny what difference a few games makes. Had that been a Barker team selection I'd have been groaning. Also, great to see Johnny Ertl in the XI and as captain. Anyway, according to my now admittedly terrible maths, with Bristol Rovers...

    This is an outrage.

Banner flying over Fratton Park right now..

Is flying a plane over a rival's ground a 'thing' now? At least this puts to bed any lingering doubts about the gentrification of football. I'd stopped going due to the lack of sushi and artisan coffee at grounds. However, finally it seems my stupid beard will be welcome outside of Shoreditch.

    Pompey v Bristol Rovers

I could be wrong here, but didn't he apply after Whittingham was sacked? I thought he was one of the applicants along with Claridge, Herman & David James, Connolly, Tisdale and Wilder (as well as some other chap who will now remain nameless). I'd imagine that, if he did apply, he's definitely...

    Daggers v Pompey

Well done to Andy Awford. What a great achievement for him. When we were all struggling to see a goal, let alone a win, he's got the players working hard and showing some confidence. Whilst I know we're not out of it yet, I feel positive about our prospects for the first time in months.

    One game

That was the last time I sat there too, as I took my Dad to that game. Some of the abuse towards Defoe went a little too far for our liking. Which was a shame considering that he managed to get himself sent off anyway (horrible little urchin that he is). Actually - was it you dealing out the...
