Official Match Thread - Real Madrid v Liverpool

Really hope we see Lucas get more chances in the league. Kolo should've earned himself a place ahead of Lovren based on this performance too.

My point is that it's the philosophy of the club, not the manager that makes signing marquee names impossible.

He has the final say but there's so much more in-between that you're not acknowledging. You think Rodger's can just say to Ayre, 'I want Di Maria, get it done!' and that's that? Not mention selling any top established star on Liverpool's incentivised pay structure would be near impossible. Say...

I come and go a lot anyway, form doesn't really come into it, real life does.

A lot of things about this season remind me of his first season. Can only assume he thinks confidence is an issue. Which it almost certainly is. Probably thinks he'll get more out of them this way than by chewing them out. It just makes it more frustrating for us though because it's obviously...

I'm not saying I agree with the youth philosophy just that it's in place. There's a transfer committee at the club to identify targets and a CEO negotiating wages and transfer fees. This isn't 'Football Manager' anymore. One man isn't responsible for everything that happens at a club.

We've been terrible this season, but these Rodgers out comments are insane. We've blown a lot of money on potential, but I can't really accept that it's the manager's decision alone. The philosophy of the owners has always been to develop young talent rather than buy the finished article.

No I didn't. The game was very open until Villa scored. Hence I keep saying 'since Villa scored'

Completely agree. Didn't learn lessons from this fixture last season. Also wrong time to rest our most in form player.

This has been so desperately bad. Never looked like breaking Villa down since they scored.

Aspas no worse than Mario on this performance. At least he tried.

Hutton should be off by the way. He clattered Balotelli in first half.
