Turned down the opportunity to play for Scarborough FC Under 8's when seen playing football on Scarborough beach in 1996 to focus on my swimming career. At 11 I got asked to train with the GB Junior squad but politely declined because I wanted to become a professional footballer. True story too. Now I'm just a nobody who could have been two somebodies!
