    and you can according to law It is still lawful to act in reasonable self-defence, even if the intruder dies as a result. However, prosecution could result from "very excessive and gratuitous force", such as attacking someone who is unconscious.

    as far as i can tell the proposals of the conservatives are to change 'Reasonable force' to 'Self defence' both are vague so will need to be decided by a court. No change really, just something to keep the public happy.
