Article: Canford Cliffs Retired | Horse Racing

I agree with Topclass 100%. No doubt the horse has a slight niggle but sadly imo Coolmore have made the decision whilst Canfords reputation is pretty much still intact. Absolutely no shame in losing to a horse like Frankel btw.

    Richard Hannon

The course may not suit Canford but it was the fact he could not handle the pace set by Frankel that had him running on empty and well beaten, not the course. I have no problem with Richard Hannon and Canford Cliffs is an exceptional horse and one of my favs but I would have liked to have...

    Richard Hannon

Some of the comments coming from the Hannon camp are ridiculous. "He is not himself, he was off the bridle before halfway and CC has never been off the bridle in his life." CC has never before faced a horse who has such a high crusing speed and the ability to pour it on from 8f to 1f out...

You sure about that Wooly? And who is this RV that practically stole my write up about Emulous (not the correct spelling) almost word for word.

Bold Perk (nap) 4.20 Perth on @ 10/11 due to go up in weight next week, Pipe hasn't sent it to Perth for nothing.....well that's the theory. Emulous 7.30 Fairyhouse on @ 3/1 with PP last night. Beat Lolly For Dolly lto and we all saw how impressive she was at Ascot just the other week. Plenty...

    The Eclipse

Cyc, I think you have hit the nail on the head. Most of the Group 1 races in the UK are contested by only 3 or 4 (sometimes less) genuine Group 1 horses. Most horses that show any sort of ability over 1m to 1m4f are shipped straight off to stud, although this practice seems to have decreased a...

    The Eclipse

I quite like the idea of only two horses from the same connections being allowed to compete, in Group 1 races anyway, but it is not feasable and would never happen. Although it does throw up lots of other issues for example the number of runners. It's easy to criticise AOB for seemingly to...

    Maxims of Thoroughbred Racing

Tam, That's the really annoying thing. I thought Treasure Beach purely on his Epsom running was the most likely of AOB's to win. All week I kept looking to see if I could get a bet on any AOB horse winning but couldn't find one via my PP app which is the tool I use to do all my betting, I very...

    Maxims of Thoroughbred Racing

Tam, I like your list and it is not too far from the principles I personally try and adopt. Point 3 - Discipline is definitely the key ingredient, knowing when to bet and not to and when to walk away is imperative. I also found point 6 and the example you gave particularly relevant. One...

Peddlers as short (or as big depending on how you look at it) as 8/1 for the 2012 Arkle.....time will tell, but I do love the horse.

It feels like every one of AOB's horses I have backed and lost in Group races this year has won next time out, so I'll be all over So You Think, especially if I can get 13/8.

    System A

Ron...absolutely the same principle. What you need is patience, discipline and a huge bank balance for it to be profitable. You also couldn't back anything else as it defeats the purpose as this could eat into your eventual profit. So all in all, I found it too boring and robotic for a guy that...

    System A

Hi Owen, It maybe more useful if you give us an insight into what your system is? I have tried the much publicised backing odds against favourites and doubling your stake until one wins system as an experiment over several days, it definitely works. But like all systems and gambling the...

    Day Racing Thread Friday 10.

It's all about quantity not quality by the looks of things to do, which is often the case when a big festival is just round the corner but one I like is 3:50 York - Arcticality Champion jock on board and should follow up the success of a couple of weeks back. I'll be taking the 15/8...
