I agree that he would be made for life if he was to retire now, but putting yourself in his shoes (boots!), why should you finish out the season with a club that seems not to want you whilst risking an injury that could end your career when you could move elsewhere on similar money and protect...

I hope that this is a load of press rubbish like the rest of us but it looks likely that Joey is at least talking to QPR. I think people need to look at both sides of the argument. It's seems likely the Barton wants to stay at Newcastle but the powers above (i.e. Ashley and Co.) don't want that...
