It doesn't help RBR if Pirelli get the brunt of any punishment so perhaps a little cynical on horners part. From what has been said, written etc, I would say the fault lies with Pirelli and Merc just took advantage of it. On a side note, did anyone else notice Paul Hembreys response to what... -

I completely agree although why do you think Pirelli would assist Merc in this way? I can't imagine why they would try to sort of rush this through and keep it a little hush if not to aid Merc. -

I think this is the whole issue, Pirelli say the FIA knew about (and authorised) the test, FIA say, yes we knew about the test but there were conditions (see letter earlier in thread) which were not fulifilled and Pirelli never got back to the FIA anyway. RBR and Ferrari are saying that they... -

I took your advice. :-) I really don't think Mercedes/Pirelli will get away with this, it all seems a little underhand and the fact they held Lewis and Nico back for this unimportant testing says it all. It will be interesting to see what both parties come out with over the next few weeks...
