*** FORUM RULES *** (temporary thread)

Reminds me of when my eldest started at St Olaves... he asked what the headmaster meant when he told the new boys 'We don't have a list of school rules, but if you break them you will be in trouble! '

Match Day Thread International football is shyte

There's an article in todays Daily Mail about the Jamaican National team. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-15283561/Jamaica-World-Cup-Steve-McClaren.html It seems that Charlton have a lot of players qualified for Jamaica. 'Making up an eight-strong London set are three...

Match Day Thread Wednesday home 18/10/25

My first match this year. I was very impressed with Carey and Bree. I have a friend who is a Southampton season ticket holder and he was amazed ge let Bree go. I thought they were going to chuck it away in the second half. A typical Charlton performance. Really should have been more than 2 up...

    Strictly VAR

I got given this by my son for Christmas https://daisychristodoulou.com/book/i-cant-stop-thinking-about-var/ It is an interesting read, if a bit depressing about the way things are going.

    Football News

I watched the Bundesliga match yesterday. It's a pity it was Bayern Munich v RB Leipzig because it was very one sided. I used to watch the Bundesliga highlights years ago and it was generally very good until the match with Bayern Munich came on. Hopefully next weeks match will be better.

OK That's my fault for thinking too deeply about it. It's 61 in Octal. Which as the late great Tom Lehrer said is just like decimal if you've had your thumbs chopped off....

Off Topic Ahhh... the good news thread

As an aside I was pleased to see (as a maths graduate) that Maths was the most popular A level again. I also noted that 2/3 of the students taking it were Boys. Which even as a male I find a bit concerning. Even more important when will this country do something about the appalling under...

That is what Sir Thomas Beecham is supposed to have said when asked if he'd ever conducted Stockhausen: "No, but I once trod in some."

Off Topic palice winning the FA Cup

I have to say I would rather Palace won it than Man City. I have a lot of banter with one of my neighbours who is a Palace season ticket holder as is a good friend of my wife. It has got to be better than the same old boring names being inscribed on it.

Match Day Thread Charlton v Orient, 25/5/25 Play-Off Final

Unfortunately I will be in Spain with all my family... However, it is on my Birthday as was the 1998 Sunderland play off final, so much as I would like to be there we will hopefully be watching in a bar in Spain.

    Football News

I have to say I agree. I do think not raising the flag and stopping play for an obvious offside is ludicrous, but it didn't cause this injury. Clearly if it had been raised the injury wouldn't have occurred. Hitting the post at high speed caused the injury. Football is a high speed, contact...

Match Day Thread Wycombe away 11/5/25 18.30

I remember Lawrie McMenemy saying when asked what ge thought after Southampton had played the crazy gang 'The ball has been taken to hospital to recover'. Seems appropriate firbthus narch as well.
