    Soft Spot

Sadly, for me, I have a soft spot for Chelsea, purely because whenever I was in London as a teenager, I loved to watch Jimmy Greaves, Bobby Tambling and co. They were magic! Recently, I lived in Spain for 10 years and supported Valencia at the Mestalla stadium. It has no roof on 3 sides, so in...

    Nerves

Interesting to note that the Reading forum (Royals Rendezvous), lists the results of both clubs regarding matches played on Friday 13th. Saints' record is far superior. Couple that with the fact that Saints play much better against the good sides, so we have every right to be confident!

    season tickets

I don't know if this is being naive, but surely they should not increase the charges, as there will be 8 matches less to watch, meaning a decrease of around 15%. If they were to increase the ticket price by that amount, I would consider that to be sufficient, without the decrease in matches...

Most famous person you've ever met.

I ran the first course at Southampton Tech for the apprentices of Southampton FC. Manager was big Lawrie, and so I met him on a few occasions. When I went to the Dell on business I used to sit in John Mortimore's office and chat football with him. He was super! Some of the lads on the course...

Billy Sharp having a medical at St Marys - Now a done deal

Talk sport says its a done deal. I read somewhere that he had to be registered by mid-day today to be eligible for the Cardiff game. Hope I'm wrong though!

    Earliest memories of Saints

Beddy, You are quite right about Saints being the first club to hold a game under floodlights. I remember being there, but being an old senior, I can't remember who it was against. If you say it was against an All Stars team, then I am happy to accept that. The only time I remember Stanley...

    Earliest memories of Saints

My dad took me to the Dell in 1949 to watch Saints. They had a famous centre forward called Charlie Wayman. I was only 9 years old myself, so don't remember any details about the game. I was hooked then and have been an avid fan ever since. I have been a ST holder for most of that time and have...

South Coast Derby - Portsmouth vs Southampton - The Match Thread

I agree with St Brendy. Typical Harding, no brains, kick it anywhere rather than think! He is the Saints biggest liability.

    On Sunday I am hoping......

Just out of interest, Sir Godders, after claiming that you don't make spelling mistakes etc, this is how you spell IDEOLOGIES. Sorry, but I couldn't resist it!

    If not Jos..who?

All the signs are that Jos would like to stay. Because he is on loan, he has to be diplomatic when asked about Celtic as they still hold his registration. Given that Lennon doesn't rate him, I doubt he is bothered about how well he is doing down here, and will be happy to let him go in Jan for a...

Have you always been a saints fan?

I was born ten minutes walk from the Dell and my dad took me when I was a boy, and I sat on his shoulders to watch the likes of Charlie Wayman. I remember the saints fans yelling 'up the middle for Charlie' That started the love affair and I have been a fan ever since. I was a season ticket...

    This Month

Sorry, can't agree! It's going to be a tough few weeks with some really difficult games. I think Nige will play his strongest team, injuries permitting. Not the time for mixing up the squad, unless we suffer a couple of defeats.
