    canas

Canas was a solid match day squad player, even under Monk. We would never have got rid of him on a free for footballing reasons. There had to be more to it..... http://prosoccertalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/17/more-conspiracy-theories-with-swansea-and-villa-involved-in-shady-training-ground-reports/

    deadline day

"Kicking out" equates to "surplus to requirements" or "deal too good to turn down". For Michu, we acquired Siggy. For Vorm, we acquired Fabby. Chico - Fernandez. Pablo - Montero/Ki Vasquez - Gomis. All are upgrades. Davies is the only player we haven't been able to replace with better...

Is there more trouble in camp

I'll be surprised if Chico is still here come September but maybe Monk sees him as a managerial challenge. He undoubtedly has great defensive qualities but his rash antics could have potentially got us relegated last year. If he stays, it will be interesting to see whether Monk can improve him.

    The official 2014/2015 Transfer Thread

If it's true about Gwion, that's a shame. He's always looked handy for the U21s and I thought he may find game time in cup games and the like. Kenji Gorre is our next big winger hope I guess.

Garry Monk to hold crunch talks with Michu

A reliable source suggested to me that Poz and Canas were involved in leaking stories to the press towards the end of last season. It would make sense as Canas went from being a regular starter, even under Monk, to not being involved on match days. If so, you can be sure that both will be on...

Ecuador v England .... football or comedy

Yes, Morrison does have quality but as you pointed out, alongside his questionable attitude, his position on the pitch is not one where I think we desperately need reinforcements. Out wide, however, is another story. I'd be very happy with Redmond or Johnnie Williams, or even Ince, or McMannaman...

Ecuador v England .... football or comedy

I don't know for sure his dominant foot, although he was mostly cutting inside last night and I remember him doing the same against us so I'd assume he prefers his right. He plays on the left wing for club and country though so that is clearly his position. I'd somehow actually missed the...

Ecuador v England .... football or comedy

Best thing about this game was watching the talent that is Jefferson Montero on the left wing for Ecuador. He tore our defence in half at the Liberty in a preseason friendly against Real Betis a few years ago, and I've followed his progress ever since. He's now 24 and plays for a club in Mexico...

    DeGuzman starting for netherlands

We are at our best when we're one or two touch passing, whilst JdG invariably takes three or four touches and kills our momentum. He does have a good eye for goal however, there is no denying that, and he can cross a ball well from open play. His dead balls however are atrocious. Yes, he's...

    40 grand a week

Heard a completely unsubstantiated rumour that he and Canas were behind, or linked to, the recent leaks to the press regarding training ground bust ups. Only if they're sold this summer, will I believe it to be true.

    40 grand a week

I missed that bit somehow, sorry. I still call it dubious, but maybe we thought he'd come good.

    40 grand a week

Actually, it says that we took up his contract which released them from paying 40k a week. It's quite possible that we negotiated a revised salary with the player before signing him up.

Lita and N'gog depart as well as Lamah and Vazquez

I'd rather go for Nathan Redmond.

    40 grand a week

There are two players in our current squad on 40k per week; Michu, and Bony. There is not a single chance in hell that HJ and the board would pay N'gog that kind of money. That is not how they work.

Swans earn 75 million in tv money in 2013 - 2014

Considering the increase in TV revenue that all premier league clubs gained last season compared to 2011/12 (an extra £20 mill if I remember correctly?) relatively speaking the £12mill for Bony was actually not a huge amount more than we shelled out for Ki and Hernandez the season before.
