Born in Hull 1952. Grew up in Preston and Hedon and went to Withernsea High School. Lousy at football as a kid but made it into the school 2nd XI when I was in U6th but only 'cos no one else was stupid enough to play in goal. My Dad took me to first City game in early '60s. He didn't go regularly but I grew up with stories of Billy Bly, Raich Carter, losing unfairly to Arsenal in FA cup, and huge crowds. Was a regular myself by 64/65 and revelled in the Chillo/Waggy era with promotion in 65/66 with those huge crowds and nearly getting into Div 1 in the seasons after that.
