To be fair he's been awful today.

Great game. Peter Drury trying his very best to ruin it with his nonsensical dribbling.

Match Day Thread Sunderland AFC v Hull City – Saturday 22nd February 2025 - KO 12:30

I recall the Derby game where we are hanging on and Rigg simply couldn't keep hold of the ball. He needed resting and that was four weeks ago. We all know his talent and potential but he's been run into the ground. He's contributed very little in the last few games. I find it amazing that the...

Exactly this. I remember against Derby Rigg looked shot, he couldn't keep the ball and yet we have played him every game since. Similarly Roberts has not created anything for months. Mundle was the only positive today.

Correct. Get it to Roberts, who will dance about and create nothing. Rigg was probably 2/10 today and had been rubbish for weeks. Le Bris seems slow to react as Rigg looked out on his feet against Derby. All eyes on Le Bris to see how he can freshen it up. Mundle was very bright so at least...

Isidor needs passes. He's had one over the top from which he is expected to make magic from. Isidor is nowhere near the problem. It's the three behind him Roberts, Rigg and Le Fee.

Match Day Thread Sunderland AFC v Hull City – Saturday 22nd February 2025 - KO 12:30

Yes, Patterson error but our problems are further forward. We have three players on the pitch to create and two of them - Rigg and Roberts - have created nothing for literally weeks. Rigg gets worse every week. Unfortunately today Le Fee is joining them in contributing little. We need to start...

Match Day Thread Middlesbrough FC v Sunderland AFC – Monday 3rd February 2025 - KO 20:00

Correct. Jobe to blame. Overall a very good display. Le Fee man of the match but I actually thought Roberts did well having underperformed for a while. And what a cameo from Samed, who was unfairly maligned on Saturday. A very positive display. Oh and Dan Neil absolute class.

Where did you hear that? What positions?

Match Day Thread Sunderland AFC v Plymouth Argyle FC – Saturday 25th January 2025 - KO 15:00

Samed was absolutely fine today. He's a holding midfielder and he did that job well. The problem was that Jobe and Neil in front of him occupied virtually the same space. Playing those three against a team intent on sitting behind the ball was bafflingly negative. Then to remain the same in the...

Match Day Thread Sunderland AFC v Plymouth Argyle FC – Saturday 25th January 2025 - KO 15:00

Yes, I agree with all that. Roberts is delivering very little and hasn't all season. Samed was actually OK but why go three in the middle against the bottom side. The full backs were key and Hume did his job but Cirkin was no threat whatsoever. Le Bris got it badly wrong today.

    Winter transfer window

For me, Dan Neil has possibly been our best player this season. He's been asked to play a new role and done it without complaint and got better and better as the season has gone on. Him and Jobe must be just about the best CMs in the division, along with Hamer of Sheff Utd. He diefinitely has...

    U21/U18 matches

A few need league club loans. I felt Middlemass really struggled tonight and kept giving the ball away. He's got ability but at 20 the likes of him and Harrison Jones need league loans to prove themselves or time woll run out.

    U21/U18 matches

Great game. Poveda was best in first half then Aleksic in the second half. Aleksic's goal was tremendous, all about his standout ability. Lots of other positives - Harrison Jones, Jenson Jones, Abdullahai. Very good.

Match Day Thread Derby County FC v Sunderland AFC – Tuesday 21st January 2025 - KO 19:45

At every match we assess what is going right and what is goiung wrong and who is playibg well and who is struggling. Rigg could not hold onto the ball last night and it was causing a big problem when they got on top. He hasn't been at his best recently and I think that he needs a rest. I am...
