Clubs are too quick to get rid of Managers (usually because of fan pressure) - constant chopping and changing does no good in the long run
A surprise given that he is a distinctively average to slightly below average manager in my book, one that has spent more than any other manager we have ever had. When you consider how well some other managers in this league are doing with far FAR less resources, I'm not sure the extension was necessary or earned yet.
What managers are doing better with less resources? The only team above us before today's game that could possibly fall into that category is Barnsley and they've been in the Premiership before now

We were stretching too much and lost too many battles all over the pitch." #HUDvBRC Bristol City FC @bcfctweets 39m39 minutes ago LJ: "Frankie apologised to everyone. He's a great lad and it was a sequence of events that led up to that moment." #HUDvBRC Bristol City FC @bcfctweets 38m38 minutes ago LJ: "The winning goal comes from a couple of mistakes. It's difficult to say. I thought we had cover." #HUDvBRC
What was he thinking, he takes WIlbs of and puts Reid on. When we are chasing the game, why not put your 2.5 million striker on the pitch. What is that all about, give the kid a chance. Has he upset you, because he clearly is not being given a chance. sorry LJ time to step up,give the kid his chance alongside Tammy.
Some facts before you come up with answers though. 1. They have a bigger average attendance 2. They've been in The Championship longer so hence more prize money 3. Historically they are more successful than us if that makes any difference 4. Both clubs have rich owners 5 I give you that our ground is newer but they built a new one not that long ago
So you would say Brighton, Preston, Barnsley, Birmingham, Fulham, Leeds, Huddersfield, any of them spent anywhere close to what LJ spent in the summer? No idea what history has to do with it or that over 15 years ago Barnsley were in the Premier League for that matter, that's complete nonsense logic. The fact is LJ has spent more money than any Bristol City manager in history, and probably more than GJ spent in over 5 years, as well as more than ALL those teams I've mentioned above. My point being he has little to show for that huge expenditure so not quite sure what prompted the board to pay him more for longer, he's not in any danger of going anywhere!
F*cj me how did Firlding stay on ? What a tw@t. Junior said there was cover - fu@@ing idiot. Korey needs a kick in the bol@@ks, not for the back pass - look how he left the scorer of their first goal.
Well Fulham spent 21million in the summer and out of the clubs mentioned it's only us and Preston who made a profit in the window and ours was the bigger profit. The club has progressed under LJ and will continue to do so if people can look at the bigger picture and not keep looking for instant success
Just watched that- Fielding should have gone. LJ what cover did he have behind him none. Smith shocking back pass,Fielding should have just kicked the ball. New goal keeper, new attaking midfield player, two strikers required.
Bigger picture ? We've never spent anywhere near what Lansdown has allowed Junior to spend. We'd spent zillions and THEN cashed in SC's signing - Kodija. MORE money for the luckiest boy on the planet to spend in January. And we extend his contract, what bloody hold has Junior got on Lansdown ? Here we are at Christmas and can anyone honestly say Junior knows his first 11.
Well he had already spent record amounts BEFORE Kodjia went so again your argument falls down there. And in what way have we progressed exactly? We are nowhere near the heights we were under the early years of his Dad, and we are as much a selling club as we ever have been in the past, so ANY youth he is excited about, if, IF they do well, will be sold. So what ways have we progressed under his management? I'm not dissatisfied or overjoyed with his performance, much like his playing career he has been average to slightly below that mark.
Well we may well be in a better position if we hadn't had sold him. Which we had no choice to do by the way. If we still had him and doing as badly as those other teams then your argument would stand. As it is our net expenditure is the least out of all those clubs. He's only been in the job 10 months so you can't put him at fault for the lack of progression since his Dad's time. Since his time in charge we progressed from relegation threatened to mid table safety. Of course we are selling club any mid table championship team would be. You don't become major players in ten months. We are building something and this time we are getting in young marketable players who will improve with us rather than championship journeymen with no improvement or sale on value in them which what we done in his dad's time
Have you heard of inflation? Prices tend to go up. Therefore you currently pay more for things than your predecessors did in the past
