Well that's good for you Archers. Pleased you avoided the lure of Wenger and great you make the trips to St Mary's. Not sure how much longer we will have the best CB in the league though, but with you enjoying him while he is here and also seeing how Hesketh, Sims etc. develop. In the Championship
Unpopular opinion time (that isn't just going round in circles about Thursday): if Long is now forced into a run of games we will become a much better attacking team and score more goals than with Austin starting. Partly because of how their skill sets affect our play and partly because a fresh Austin being the two in a one-two punch will do us much better than a constantly knackered and immobile one.
Would love a mobile front 3 of Boufal, Long, Sims. Or Boufal, Long, Tadic. With Austin waiting to come off the bench. Would give plenty of defences nightmares.
I would like that we start to play a more pleasing to the eye football (more often than not, at least). Is that too much to ask? For a while now I really don't enjoy in our performances (with a couple of exceptions)
On Thursday, I hadn`t been so up for a game since Coventry in 2011. Anyway, that`s history now. I haven`t a clue who is going to play tomorrow, how Saints are going to play, and what the result will be. I`ll go for an ugly 2-1 win, for no particular reason.
I would like to see this team tomorrow FF Cedric Fonte VvD Bertrand Hjobjerg Romeu Davis Tadic Boufal Long Some flair on wings, and Long running the channels.
I think what is more rational is to use as a benchmark the results in the EL to mark our decline in performances as the season has progressed and all said and done; given the quality of the opposition we played on Thursday; Boro, on current form, should not be markedly inferior to the team we drew with on Thursday.
Looking forward to tomorrow. The Joint lowest goals scored in the division which probably means it will be 4-3 either way?
If the Emporium on the South Coast win by three clear goals tomorrow they will go up to ninth and be above Everton. That result will please and lift their diminishing number of fans so don't expect it to happen.
there's a good chance Boufal and Tadic will play together for the first time in this match - if that doesn't get the old juices flowing lie down and think of England! (of course if they're crap we have no hope, the Championship will welcome us back, we'll be sold to a Chinese Christmas tree laser light supplier and Nigel will be dragged back to steady the ship until Messi and Ronaldo are enticed by some real wages!)
Fortunately, the result will not affect the number of SFC fans because we are SFC fans and will always be SFC fans til our last breath.
All the home teams in the prem today have scored 3 goals........best we keep up that tradition tomorrow.
