Remember being 5/6 years old. Misbehaving because I was bored and my old man pukeld out a chair, stuck it in front of the record player and stuck these huge headphones on. The first time I'd properly listened to music... Sgt Peppers. Started the longest and most consistent love affair I'll ever have.
The first thing I bought for myself when I left home was one of those - cost a fortune and it took me about 2 years to pay it off. It was brilliant for recording stuff off the radio that I could then play on my equally expensive Sony Walkman!!
Had several different types of those. Then moved on to hi-fi separates now the house is full of wireless music systems in every room. Scares me to think how much I've spent on hi-fi equipment over the years.
It appears so mate. My wife bought a Christmas album on my iTunes yesterday for 5.99 This is fine, although she could have just re-downloaded the four she already had from previous years with the same ficking songs on.
Ah the old music centres from the late 70's, had a Goodman's one with Wharfdale speakers.. There was the Amstrad ones as well that made Alan Sugar his first fortune with twin tapes and vertical turntable.. For those that don't know Amstrad stood for Alan Michael Sugar Trading.. Right, bored you enough now, back to me box..
Dad made me save money when i was an apprentice saying upon completion I would have a few bob to help buy whatever i wanted. Bought the dearest Hi fi system I could find in Sunderland at the time. It had all the buttons gadgets the lot. Paid cash which was a great feeling got it delivered and spent a while setting it up with all the leads etc and virtually had a semi on when I played my 1st record on it ( Nantucket Sleighride by Mountain). Ffs it was a Hitachi that well known Hi Fi maker. Young n daft eh.
I had a Technics separates system. Cost a ****ing fortune. Left it with the ex wife when we split up. Turntable, tuner, double cassette, amplifier, graphic equalizer & a 5 cd changer. Daft cow had it took to the tip & bought a micro cd player/radio.
Not sure. Bose still reasonable gear. I had a Denon with Wharfedale speakers which wasnt bad . Sennheiser for headphones.
Mine glowed red like the dashboard on a 1980's BMW. It had big **** off Marshall speakers too. Silly cow could have flogged it in AdMag & got herself some dosh.
